The age of parallel parking may soon be over thanks to a literal reinvention of the wheel by Canadian man William Liddiard.

As much as I appreciate the back yard inventor, I do think that the mecanum design will be the eventual winner in the omni-directional wheel category.

The rolling tube designs look neat (especially on motorcycles), but I question their durability in the real world. Especially in our climate.

Nothing like bringing some rubber from well below zero, to well above zero, than throwing some forces across their natural strength lines, while rapidly decreasing temperatures to well below zero again.

Or, as we like to call it here, driving somewhere in winter.

Good, now those idiot drivers who don't know how to parallel park won't have any more excuses.

I have always wondered why the CGI crew failed to put sparks into that shot.
