Susan Rowbottom of Kelowna, B.C., says she was sunbathing topless on a local beach when a police officer told her to cover up even though that's not the law in the province.

Interesting the police don't seem to know the law anymore.

Wonder what else they 'forgot' about.

Yeah, way to not know your job.

    I also like this,
Still, Duncan says that if a topless person is asked to put a shirt on because children or families nearby feel uncomfortable, he expects them to comply.

He expects them to comply? Regardless of the argument if it is proper or not why would he expect them to? Whats he going to do if they don't? Jump up and down and shake his fist and cry? He has no authority more than any citizen to enforce her to cover up. Live with it. Millions in Europe do with no problems. BTW considering the women I've seen pushing for this right are normally not ones I'd want to see half naked I'd be quite happy to let her bare her breasts around me!

Whether the cop has the legal authority or not is a moot point. What he has is a tazer and a gun.

It's not a moot point in Indiana and Texas. Both states have laws on the books that explicitly state that their citizens do not have to submit to illegal acts or illegal orders by law enforcement.

The Indiana law goes one step further and says that if police execute a warrant on the wrong house or the wrong person and they employ lethal force in doing so then the victim of that crime is immune to any charges that occur from defending themselves.

Interestingly, since the law was passed over the objections of law enforcement the number of wrongful warrant executions in Indiana has dropped to exactly zero. :!:
