A leaked draft of the Home Office’s new counter-extremism strategy, seen by The Telegraph, targets Sharia courts and calls for a ban on radicals working unsupervised with children over fears the young could be brainwashed.

Sounds good, but remember how they were going to fix the schools after the Trojan Horse Scandal?

Everybody got punished but the perps.

Tonight they framed the leader of British First on a bogus charge, so not a good start.

I expect more of that sort of thing. Government attacks on counter-jihadis and the opponents of multiculturalism under pretense of controls on Muslim extremists.

"Yeah we'll stop those radical Jihadis."

"But wait why are the jails filling up with the patriots of EDL and Britain First?"

"Magic I guess. Nothing to see there. Move along."

ban on radicals working unsupervised with children over fears the young could be brainwashed.
    Now that's getting tough. /sarcasm

Other measures include a requirement that staff at job centres identify vulnerable claimants who may become targets for radicalisation, after public outrage at people who hate Britain being able to live off the state
No potential for abuse or playing favorites there. /sarcasm.

There will also be an introduction of penalties in the benefits system to make people learn English to improve their integration into British society.
Very good idea, Canada should emulate.

The rules on granting citizenship will also be tightened to ensure new residents embrace “British values”.
I think we already have something like this. Good idea, but won't do much to end extremism. Jihadi John would have slipped under this, since he became a citizen while a young kid. Our two lone wolves also would not have been caught by this.

The new counter-extremism policy targets a much broader problem than just finding and catching terrorists and aims to tackle radical preachers and individuals who try to brainwash others and encourage them to embrace extremist views.
All very good, but why no concrete provisions given. IF we want to keep some sense of right to free speech, this sort of thing is very difficult to enforce without stepping over the line.

The Home Office draft document says it is not “primarily” directed at terrorism, but at behaviour which, while “often legal”, is said to cause social division and “very significant damage to our communities”.
If the behavior is legal, probably new laws won't be effective. Time to look at root causes.

Sharia courts - thank God we avoided that pitfall. Time to ban them, along with any other ethnic/religious legal proceedings (you know who I'm talking about.)

Last night details emerged of another example of alleged “entryism”. The Sunday Telegraph can disclose that an extremist who has called for the killing of British troops, Azad Ali, was joined in Parliament by the Labour MPs Yasmin Qureshi, Andy Slaughter and Gerald Kaufman and Sayeeda Warsi, the former Tory communities minister, to launch a “Muslim manifesto” for the general election.
    Holy shit.

Refugees who otherwise qualify for asylum will not be given it if they cross a “carefully defined legal threshold” of extremism or opposition to British values. Instead they will be given a “new form of restrictive leave to remain”.
For Christ's sake, plenty of refugees in the world. Just send home the ones who don't kiss the ground of he country that gave them refuge. No restrictive leave bullshit, no flying back to the country that 'oppressed' you like jihadi John did.

Gotta say, the reports coming out of Britain make your jaw drop in astonishment. Well, what do you want from a Christian society that sees vulnerable girls as slags. Guess it's just more evidence of the smug British class system, where you ignore a significant proportion of your population (people on welfare for generations) and just do the same with those forriners. Hope they wake up.

The US seems to be doing the best with their Muslim immigrants, the majority of which are Arab and doing very well. Something to be said for the melting pot. Maybe it's because they take less Muslim refugees, have more economic immigrants?
