A divided Supreme Court gave a major boost to gay and lesbian rights, striking down a federal law that denied benefits to legally married same-sex couples.

Yesterday was a perfectly great decision. The Supreme Court ruled that it was nonsensical to use the demographics of over forty years ago to make policy in the current day.
Congress is free to draw a new map of states and communities that the Congress thinks are racist.
In the meantime, it is unConstitutional to regard as racist communities like Monterey, California that are ragingly liberal and have established themselves as exemplars of diversity and tolerance.

Striking down DOMA sets up for a Constitutional Amendment. Polling data shows that such an amendment would receive support from blacks and Hispanics in the range of 80% to 90% while whites would support it only by about 45%.
That has such an amendment passing in states like California, New York, Michigan, Colorado, and perhaps Illinois.
I guarantee that the sun won't set today before we see people announce that they'll be organizing for this.
It would have been better to leave DOMA alone instead of pouring gasoline on a fire.

We'll have to wait and see won't we?
And really, what other choice did SCOTUS have? DOMA was a grossly discriminatory law and the only defenses left were: gay sex is icky and the Bible says its bad.

Well, the language of the majority opinion sets up for the polygamists (Mormons, pagans, and muslims) to sue for their marriage rights.
I imagine we'll see one of those lawsuits before the court within a year or two.

Good. The state can butt out of the bedroom.

Could be...could also go how Canada's did.
A couple Provinces made a big stink, the fed's passed a law, life carried on and nobody (outside of those directly affected) cared.
More equality, less fuss. Really couldn't have gone any better other then using some common sense and not requiring the legislation to begin with.

Wrong. We just took a step closer to the rapture.
