The trial of a US army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people in a shooting spree at an army base is suspended while judges decide whether his beard should be removed.

This would almost be funny if it wasn't so damn stupid.

He had no problem shaving while plotting to kill those 13 people.

Shave him, be done with it, and note to US law enforcement:

Don't bother leaving the next one alive, waste of time and money.

...or they can take their heads out of their asses and carry on with the case. If need be, tack on more charges of improper dress code or some lame shit.

Martin is right. He has no problem shaving when he was committing his Jihad and killing 13 people. Still what is important is not this pig fucker's beard but the fact that he needs to put on trial even if they have to overlook his stupid looking beard. My apologies to pigs they have better taste than to get involved with Major Hasan.

I say give him a straight razor and get to it, hopefully it will save us a trial.

His lawyers are asses. He is still a member of the US Army and thus has no right to facial hair. General anesthesia and a quick shave while he's under, then carry on with his court-martial.

Wow. Excuses are being taken seriously now? In the army?

They want to make sure that there are no grounds for an appeal when convicted(and convicted he will be).

Myself thinks anything less than a bullet followed by a shallow grave would be too good for this fucking mutt!

Isn't it funny that NOW, he is afraid for his life? Yet in 2009, he couldn't care less about other peoples lives?

I understand that they want to make sure, but I always figured (my knowledge is 0, so much is obvious ) that the rules of the army top any other rules, including "religious" freedom when people are court martialed (if that is even the right expression. I should really get coffee before I start thinking...).
This man is of course far from stupid and will find a new loophole next time around...

I prefer of thinking of him as cowardly, he was probably hoping to be a martyr but when that didn't pan out he turned chicken.

Yes and no. In Canada we still have to follow the Charter of Rights and Freedoms during Court Martial proceedings, and I would presume the US Army has to allow "rights" of the accused. Better to take your time, get all your ducks in a row and leave no avenue for appeal because his "rights" were not upheld.

You're right. Makes sense. Thank you.

Maj Hasan was paralysed from the chest down after being shot by police during the incident at Fort Hood.

Sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to shave him!

Seriously, IMHO his 'rights' ended when he took human life, but I understand the rationale in making sure there are no grounds for appeal. Just do whatever it takes to convict the guy. If that means leaving him unshaven, then tack on some other charges too.

If people can't identify him, use facial recognition software to show what he'd look like without the beard - if they can make Clint Eastwood look 20, I'm sure they can show what this POS would look like without a beard.

    Fuck it.

Let this piece of shit keep his beard, just remove the head that it's attached to. Problem solved.
