A nurse fired this week for accessing the files of more than 100 patients at Eastern Health says her dismissal is personal, and that she will fight for her job.
However, Eastern Health's letter points out that she had accessed records of people to whom she was connected, including her ex-husband and her boyfriend's ex-wife.
She also looked at other files of people she knew, including a friend with a drug problem, and someone who was renting an apartment from her.
FIRE HER ASS. Do not pass go. Do not collet 200$!
No excuse for that whatsoever. This is a clear breach and public trust is undermined when this activity isn't rooted out.
...but, the hospital should restrict access to those who need to know. Funny, they know who accessed the files, but no red flags were raised at the time she accessed them.

She might very well have had the ability to be able to access them, as part of her job. Doesn't mean she should, unless they were actually her patient.
I have access to look at huge volumes of 'sensitive' data. Doesn't mean I ever would, because I know I have no need to.

Also agreed...
