Things like this are excellent. Neith the Iranians nor the Americans are horned devils and when things kike this happens it goes a long way to remin both sides that we are all good people.

Nope, just a spelling error. Positive interactions between folks in hostile situations can go a long way to uncrossing crossed transactionions. When Sadat went to Jerusalem and spoke at the Israeli Kenneset it was very well received.

Thing like this needs to be repeated. Whether this help solve some the problems is unclear but ifit helps with the atmosphere I m all for it.

Iranians are good people they may not like the American govt , but thatt is a different issue.

Translation: Iran thank the U.S. for doing something it could never do because it's run by a bunch of moronic, psychotic douche bags.

Iran's hard-line Fars news agency had a different take, calling the rescue operation a Hollywood dramatization of a routine event.

Oh look there's something that proves my point. That didn't take long.

Very True, In the world of current US-Iranian relations this wont count for much but to the fisherman than their families it is a big deal. If we can't make positive effect on the world situation in a big way perhaps we can do it in many smaller ways such as this.

Unfortunately,in that part of the world, those that make peace overtures are considered weak. Look what happened to Sadat.

Sure they're saluting us. That's why they sentenced a former Marine to death for 'spying' today.

Carrying out that sentence would not be in the world of good ideas.

The Israeli's argue that in that part of the world with those folks gestures like these while appreciated by the fisherman and their families are going to catch the attention of opinion makers there.

The Israeli's favour a different type of gesture something Curtis E LeMay would conjure up.

While I would much prefer a peaceful settlement of this it seems to be a bit elusive.

My fear is that that somebody on one side or the other will do something stupid and start a war, causing a rapid widening of the War as is what happened in WW 1.
