Falling German satellite may crash into Earth

Pieces of a retired German satellite hurtling toward the atmosphere may crash to earth this weekend, the German Aerospace Center said Thursday.

    Pretty sure the laws of gravity make it certain it will crash into Earth. If it crashed into Mars, that would be something though.

    No, they are reporters. Not science guys. Look at the caption on the photo. "A German unit is expected to re-enter the atmosphere sometime in October, 2011"

    A whole unit? Not a squad? Not a platoon? And who left them up there? :lol:

    Ze satellite haz not been ordered down to ze earth.
    why iz it violating the hierarchy we haf eztablished over the realm ?

    Actually, irony would be if it crashed on Friday, did not break-up upon re-entry AND rather than being as big as a mini-van, was MUCH bigger. Maybe it would be that cataclysmic event whats-his-name is saying will end the world.
