It's almost become a national sport in Canada to fret about how the world, particularly Americans, view the great white North. A new poll from social-networking site Badoo has some bad news for image-conscious Canadians: the results say the world ranks us

    The poll asked 30,000 people in 15 countries to the coolest nationality. Perhaps to no one's surprise, Americans came in at number one, followed by Brazilians and Spaniards.


    Interesting choice of words, it implies that people were not asked it they think a nation is cool and instead asked to just name the ones they could think of. Which would completely bias the results to neighbours, nations making the news more recently, and closer allies. So it is not really based on who they think is cool, just who they could think of naming at the time.

    wth is this? Measuring how cool you are as a country? Ego much. As a artic nation, I'd imagine many Canadians are fairly cooled off anyways. Anyways, despite how flawed it is to ask people who've never been to Canada things about Canada and mark it down as fact. I'd be perfectly fine with not being a cool country. Last I checked, cool kids dropped out of school. Nerdy kids excelled and came to run good companies and get the good jobs.

    Canada must be pretty uncool if it is ranked just below Belgium in the uncool list.

    Not really. People were asked to name the what they thought was the coolest nationality, so of course they would name nationalities they think are cool.

    Just goes to show that putting a Canadian flag on your backpack may keep protesters away, but it won't get you into any clubs. :mrgreen:

    Badoo? Who seriously cares what some third rate website says about Canada?

    Although available in most of the world, the site is most active in Latin America, Spain, Italy and France. Badoo ranks as the 52nd most popular site in France and the 117th globally, according to Alexa Internet.


    As far I see it, it's the unpopular kids telling us we're not cool too. Whatever...

    It doesn't help when a contest looking for Canada's best DJ also advertises "Canada's Spring Break" taking place in Cancun, instead of say, Halifax.

    Well, winning a trip to Halifax during is Spring break is VERY cool. As in COLD. Who wants to win a trip only to have to shovel 2 ft of icy snow while you're there???
