I wonder what kind of threat they thought this 15 year old girl was?

Absolutely no threat at all, just a couple of assholes getting their rocks off at the expense of a teenage girl.

Oh please. My then 8 year old has been patted down at Schiphol 4 years ago. They asked me if they could (randomly) search her. What can you do? I asked the same, do me. They refused. Shit happens.
Dramatic touch: "Her grampa is dying! Our weekend is ruined now!"

Obviously there was a kiddy diddler at work...they targeted a young girl. There was nothing random about this, because the girl obviously fits the profile of a terrorist...male, 18 - 35 yrs of age and of middle eastern or south asian ethnicity.

People have been caught with babies with diapers full of coke.

If they don't do this, kids will be used to blow up planes next.

Don't recall any terrorist from Pickering Ontario, flying in and out of Sudbury.
Don't know of any islamic groups there.
Mayhaps Pickering should be looked at more closely.
And, its citizens put on a terror list?

That's called a false analogy. Coke is not explosives. People who smuggle coke are unlikely to blow up the plane.

If you wanted to blow up a plane load of people, you'd do it while they were all standing in line checking their baggage, before there are any security checks at Western airports. Whereas in Israel, you'd already have been through 3 security checks by then, and lines are kept short in case someone gets that far without being identified.

Searching a 15 year old girl makes no one safer. Pat downs make no one safer.

Like I said, it's not new. My daughter, then 8, was patted down 4 years ago.

If kids are used to smuggle drugs, is it too far fetched to say that they will be used to blow up planes? You call it a false analogy , I call it a risk that is there.
I'm not saying that people who smuggle drugs are blowing up planes. I am saying that the ones that blow up planes will be using kids if they need to. And since apparently, kids go unchecked, it's pretty easy to do too. You think they care? I don't.

I don't call it that, that is the definition of the method you used to argue. Example:

    1. A has properties x, y, and z
    2. B has properties x, y, and z
    3. A has property p.

    Therefore, B has property p.

    Or:

    1. Hitler practiced vegetarianism.
    2. Liberals practice vegetarianism.
    3. Hitler was a fascist.

    Therefore, liberals are fascists. :?:

    That is a False analogy.

There is a risk any of us may be hit by a falling meteor today. It's unlikely, but there is still a risk. What sort of life would it be if we all lived worried about insignificant things?

Are people who smuggle coke likely to blow up planes? If they did, how would they smuggle coke? No, coke smugglers are unlikely to blow up planes. 15 year old white girls are unlikely to blow up planes. 30 year old radicalized middle eastern men are likely to blow up planes. 15 year old girls are likely to smuggle coke, but only a hard core 15 year old would be able to hide that from a person trained to recognize deception in a person by having a simple conversation with them.

However, 23 year old underpaid and overhormoned boys are likely to want to feel up a 15 year old girl. And they are allowed to. It boggles my mind that people continue to argue about how much inconvenience and public humiliation sheep are willing to endure for this security theater, instead of demanding to fix the overpriced system that does absolutely nothing for anyones' security.

15 year old (or 7 year olds) are likely to be brainwashed (Omar Kahdr ring a bell?) and do as they are told.

It boggles my mind that people think this is new.

Look at any news report from the Middle East, lots of kids younger than 15 have been used as suicide bombers. As someone once said these people hate us more than they love their kids. That's why 15 year olds have to be searched. Now if we were allowed to do even a little bit of profiling it'd be angry looking 15 year old boys who already have full beards instead of 15 year old white girls.

This is a little bit stupid, but hardly new or world shaking. My 6 month old daughter was given a quick frisk when we flew from edmonton to ottawa last year... that was kida stupid, but also a little understandable.

The main thing that went wrong here was that the girl was not allowed to be searched in private.
