The organisation that operates the Large Hadron Collider has set a date for the start of its science programme. On Tuesday 30 March, engineers at Cern will make their first attempt to collide beams at an energy of 3.5 trillion electronvolts (TeV) per beam

    Actually, they always get it wrong. Peter Higgs reffered to the particle he seeks as 'that god DAMN' particle. But the editors of his papers and books thought to remove the 'damn'.

    So the search is really for the Higgs Boson, that God particle.
