The G8 countries have agreed to do whatever needs to be done to limit the world's temperature to a two-degree increase. The target requires aggressive cuts to emissions that call into question what how it would affect Canada's oil industry
Action on climate change is going to have to happen sooner or later. I can?t help but wonder though is why all these people who are screaming for action on climate change don?t seem to be willing to provide any funding to address the problem. Alberta and Saskatchewan have the Enhance Energy carbon sequestration program ready to go. Problem being is there?s no money and no customers for the program. At the moment both Provinces are experiencing the lowest level of activity we?ve seen in years in terms of drilling, that is going to be followed shortly by massive levels of unemployment when the rest of the industry such as completions, pipeline and facilities construction and other services start to feel the repercussions of the impact due to the short fall in drilling. If anyone in Canada qualifies for stimulus funding is will be these two provinces so why doesn?t the Federal government start pumping money into the carbon sequestration program? It?s shovel ready and it will address the immediate need to reduce GHG emissions and provide much needed jobs to replace those being lost due to the low gas prices. If all those Canadians who truly want action on climate change why don?t they put their money where their mouth is and start supporting this program.
