I won't make any comments then about how Saskatoon has a huge Aboriginal population. That would be racist and un-called for.

Good thing Halifax is holding up their end.
If they weren't, western Canada would have the top 10 spots.

    OK everyone, I want ideas.
Why is western Canada doing so well? :?

That's funny. Little old sleepy Saskatchewan has the most dangerous city. Does the article explain why?

No, all the good people are coming back east. 8)

...I know, very weak argument but it's the only one I have.

I used to live in Halifax/Dartmouth but I don't remember it being that bad.
Mind you, this was 40 years ago.

now that the economy is in the tank every where ,I'm sure the crime rate will pick up back east, everybody will be moving home including the perps.

Using 2007 rates per 100,000 population for six crimes—homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault, vehicle theft, robbery plus breaking and entering—Maclean’s calculated the percentage difference from the national rate for each of the six crimes. In consultation with StatsCan, we gave each crime equal weights and

This is all fine and good but how do they figure out the crime rate for a population of less than 100,000, which some of these cities are....................guess.

If they're incorporating the surrounding areas to get to the 100,000 mark, they should be doing that for the major urban centers like the lower mainland and Toronto, which would both climb drastically in every category.

Once again statistics are manipulated to suit the author.

Assumed that the province of Sask was a pretty peaceful place.

    No suprise to me.

Lived there nine years ago. Didn't live in a 'rough' part of town but garage was succesfully broken into once with at least three more attempts that we know of. Roomates Jeep was broken into, brothers Firebird was stolen. Shit was stolen out of my car and I used to have young punks asking me for money on my walk to school. They were all dressed better than me.

Only lived there for two years.

*edit: I was talking about Saskatoon, just to clarify...
