VICTORIA, OTTAWA — It's noisy and handles like a bus. It breaks down often and replacement parts are scarce. But once the aging CC-115 Buffalo is up in the air, the search-and-rescue pilots who fly it are trusting and loyal.
canadian armed forces works with in a budget, based on what the government feels which is so... yes we are the weakest airforce when it comes to buget.... But in canada we have the best healthcare..... so unlike the americans where it costs 400 a day to have a kid with insurance,,, this crap is free in canada... i guess we have to be polite.. here.

Since when do we have the "best" healthcare.......and when exactly does it become free?
Too bad the Buffalo is getting harder to maintain, the pilots who fly them over some of the most demanding terrain in Canada love them. No other plane proposed for Search and Rescue work in BC is as capable as the Buff. I worked with 442 Squadron in the past, and have listened to pilots talk about those old and wonderful aircraft. Hercules were tried, but are simply not agile enough to fly search patterns in the rugged mountains of the west coast, the pilots feared that there would be crashes from trying to do the job properly with an inadequate aircraft. I'm not certain what aircraft Ottawa wants to replace the Buffalo with, but whatever plane is choosen will have a tough act to follow
