GRANTS PASS, Ore. - Scientists listening to underwater microphones have detected an unusual swarm of earthquakes off central Oregon, something that often happens before a volcanic eruption - except there are no volcanoes in the area.

That is a possibility. Earth-quakes in Alaska have disturbed Cascade volcanos. This conceivably could trigger "The Yellowsone Supervolcano". That is a scary prospect----long dormant and overdue----It's last great eruption 450 million years BP nearly exterminated early man.
Losing california is a minor consideration by comparison.
