Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion scrambled Thursday to clarify reports that he suggested sending NATO troops to Pakistan, saying instead he was in favour of "diplomatic intervention" to bring peace to the troubled region. Comments

Funny how you guys were all cheering and agreeing when it was people in bushs administartion saying the same thing.
What people are making fun of is Dion calling for a withdrawl from Afghanistan and now on return from Afghanistan he calls for a NATO intervention into a country who has on numerous occasions told NATO it is not wanted there. Advocating an expansion of the war while withdrawing forces at the same time.

but dion is also at same time saying canada should have no combat role in afghanistan , how can he come out and say NATO should take on another huge middle eastern country ?
which doesn't want nato intervention anyways , unlike afghanistan which supports outside assistance.
dion simply makes no sence and is not up to the job .
slowly removing the foot from the mouth
get the feeling there is going to be alot of silly dion quotes coming in the near future , we will be kept busy commenting on them all and wondering what he was saying.

Thats not what his position is. His position is a withdrawl from front-line combat to a training and support position for an army and gov't that should have long ago assumed full control of the situation. In addition he quite clearly meant political clout and support rather then military intervention. You guys are just predisposed to think that what he said means military intervention.
BTW, I am curious to hear your position concerning the break of security the CPC MP made by discussing Liberal plans to visit Afghanistan in advance, a serious break of security?
This was all but dismissed by the usual suspects here but we both know that had it been the other way around then those very same people would have been calling for treason charges.

but the government of afghanistan isn't ready to take over the sitaution and its military is not fully ready or trained .
so how can they possibliy be expected to take over and try to control all the terrosists over there .
dion is just a wussy and trying to find a way for canada to get out of its commitment without looking like one .

You haven't even got a clue whats going on in Ontario so how can your judgement be even considered for anything else. It can't as your post just confirmed.
You are just looking for any reason to criticize the Liberals so your biasness invalidates your opinion much as it does the usual anti-Liberal suspects.

.
Do you really think Dion was in danger of an attack from the Taliban. I'm sure the Taliban like Dions non-combat role, gives them an opportunity to attack while Canada is standing in the shadows training Afghans.

works both ways
Even a Liberal supporter has to realize that if he did get killed, it would be the best thing to ever happen to that party because that frenchie has no chance of becoming PM. He just looks like a little weasel.

Wrong again chummer. You guys woudl have had a hairy fit had it been a Liberal email concerning a CPC visit and you know it.
In addition your assesment is dead wrong about the Taliban liking Canadas role as proposed by Dion. In fact they might actually hate it more. Instead of killing infidel non-believers, something that our allies aren't shedding any tears over they will be forced to kill even more ANA soldiers and thus the ANA might take a little more interest in controlling their own country.
My position is let them sort this mess out on their own and requires neither bias for or against the CPC.
In addition, I'm not making up a reason to attack the CPC like you guys are when attacking the Liberals nor am I taking words out of context. I am quite clearly applying the same standard to a security breach that you guys would absolutely have done had the situation been reversed.

Wow, advocating killing. Real classy. Remember Kim Campbells ad making fun of Jeans face and how well that went over? Yeah, that went well...
