When Safaa Menhem stepped out of the locker room with her soccer teammates before Saturday's game, her hijab was wrapped snugly around her head and draped around her neck.
Yes, all good news. And in not so many years all the girls will have to wear one so as not to offend the delicate and easily inflamed religious feelings of the mooselimbs.
The problem is, that non-muslims are not allowed to wear caps, but muslim girls are the rule to the exception. Again. A hijab is NOT part of the dresscode in Islam, so what is their point for wearing it when it is not part of a uniform?
So? Muslims can CHOOSE to wear the Hijab, it is not mandatory. They can CHOOSE to not wear them, and they CANNOT wear them in public buildings in countries like Turkey.
You know, if they say: It is my religion to wear it, and I have to cover myself for any other man then my husband, my answer is: Why are you wearing make-up then? That is not allowed when you wear a Hijab.

Because the only valid reason to say that a piece of clothing that is not part of the uniform cannot be worn is safety. If there's no safetly risk, there's no problem.
Because it's not the place of FIFA or any other soccer organization to rule on observance of religious custom. It's not your place either.
Because we have freedom in this country to worship in the manner of one's own choosing. This is her chosen manner. It is nobody's place to say she must worship in some other way.

Yea, and in country (Turkey is not the issue here), we have the freedom to choose.

It is just a bunch of hypocritical bullshit.
No, you get to choose the manner of your worship, and it's nobody else's place to question your sincerity.
I choose to think it is hypocritical BS, and it is not anybodies place to tell me I am wrong.
If you would read the rules of islam, and talk to the people, you might know they think the same. They are "not allowed to not wear the Hijab in front of other men then their own", still, they go swimming in a public pool No Hijab allowed...
Because the only valid reason to say that a piece of clothing that is not part of the cannot be worn is safety. If there's no safetly risk, there's no problem.
Which should mean EVERYBODY should wear one, or everybody should not.

It's not your place to be the Hijab police, calling out this Muslim for infractions you perceive some other Muslim to be comitting.

No, you don't get it. FIFA hands down a listing of all the pieces of mandatory equipment - the uniform. Other pieces of equipment, non-mandatory pieces of equipment, must not pose a safety risk to the player wearing it, or any other player, and should not cause confusion on the field as to the player's position. My wife has long hair and plays keeper, and wears a bandana on her head sometimes to keep her hair under control. This is allowed. A Hijab is little different, the only real different being the reasons for wearing it. But unless it's a safety risk, or leads to confusion as to which team she's on, there's no reason to ban it except intolerance.

Do you feel the same about gloves?
Since when are gloves part of a religious dress code, or used as such? And in which religion?
"Brenda" said It is not my place to be the Hijab Police? Meaning to say I cannot express my opinion? It is not your place to tell me I cannot
Who's place is it? Solely Muslims?
No, you can express your opinion, but if you were to become a ref, and had a girl at a game who was wearing a Hijab, your opinions would not count. The only thing that would count is does the Hijab violate the laws of the game. Tied behind the neck, it does not.
