Not everyone gets to live in Canada. Duterte grew up in a part of the Phillipines that hasn't known peace in all of recorded history. His worldview is going to be somewhat different from yours and his behavior, while shocking to you, is the result of a lifetime of experience which you haven't had.
I've had different experiences than you have. I've seen things in the world that make me see someone like Duterte and I can understand how he got there and I can understand that he just wants the shit to end. Sometimes the way to convince the assholes to knock it off is to drop a few of them out of a helicopter and to let the others know you did it and that you'll do it to them, too.
Sometimes you shoot them yourself to maintain order...like Saddam Hussein did.
I'm not saying I approve or support what these people do but I can understand the of it.
If I were facing a bunch of people who were responsible for murdering numerous members of my family I'd have no qualms about doing what Duterte is doing.
Over the years you have impressed me as being made of sterner stuff than most Canadians and I imagine given terribly difficult circumstances you have it in you to make Duterte look like a schoolboy. Maybe that's the heart of your criticism here is that deep down you know you're not far off from this guy.

I can understand what you are trying to say here but the move from dregs to just different to political opponents can come fast and furious. Moving from Killing those who do harm to society and killing people your religion or political leanings tell you are "dangerous" can come overnight. Beware!

The left in the USA seems bent on outraging themselves to the point that they'll commit murder because of what they believe *might* happen.

When you play that game all it does is throw what you're saying onto the heap of other silliness that should be paid no attention to by any adults. Have fun with Trump, when you all find out the hard way that the promises he keeps ends up doing infinitely more damage to the US, and the rest of the world, than any of the fever-dream things you guys kept saying Obama was trying to do.
