Cocaine, alcohol, opioids and meth are all water soluble, and are readily excreted in urine. Cannabinoids, on the other hand, are lipophilic, and hang around in fat tissue for quite some time. So all the saliva test is going to do is tell you whether the person being tested has been exposed to cannabinoids in the last week or so.
