Good luck Canada!
But if such contacts continue after Inauguration Day, Mr. Shen said, China should end diplomatic relations with the United States.
“I would close our embassy in Washington and withdraw our diplomats,” he said. “I would be perfectly happy to end the relationship. I don’t know how you are then going to expect China to cooperate on Iran and North Korea and climate change. You are going to ask Taiwan for that?”

China has a $500B surplus in trade with America. Who has more to lose in this exchange?
Once China started to expand into the South Sea, their position changed dramatically. This is no longer an economic super power, it is now a military superpower. They are posing a risk to allies in the region and not even being shy about it.
Some tough love is needed and long overdue. Use tariffs and tough language. North Korea apparently doesn't even listen to China if we are to believe China so what's their angle there? Iran negotiated their nuclear deal with America. not China.
America has sold debt to China, yes, but China relies far more on America than vice versa. There are many low wage jurisdictions, from Vietnam to Bangladesh and even India. A tariff against China would drive businesses to other countries, if Trumps protectionism doesn't knock out those possibilities also.
China wants their cake and eat it too. No interest in doing any heavy lifting to fight world problems, but they don't delay in expanding for their own benefit. They are an existential threat because they still run their nation with an iron fist. It's completely backwards.
Chinas entry into the WTO when they were a serial human right abuser falls squarely on the feet of Bill Clinton. It's no wonder some in America want the U.S to leave the WTO. These International rackets are only happy when they are weakening Americas position in the world while arming their enemies.
Here see the expansion for yourself. Does this look like a nation you hug and consider a friend to peace?

If Trump can manage to end ties with that bunch of arrogant fucks AND bring back jobs then he'll get reelected in four years with a solid mandate!
ROTFL
Why do you laugh? How on earth did America survive before NAFTA and offshoring of jobs to China in the 1990's? Was America not the greatest economic engine in the world before globalization?
I bought into the globalization ideology as well because in theory it makes sense, but there needs to be limits, it isn't about capitalist principles anymore. Globalization has become solely about low wage sources, not innovating and beating competition. Furthermore it is unsustainable at it's current trajectory.
What is most concerning is that the greater benefit of these jobs moving have been the very enemies the West (meaning America) will have to one day stare down. There needs to be limits and some sanity. I prefer liberty and democracy to that one can find in America to systems that squeeze the life out of an individual for "state gain" that you find in China.
If the Chinese want to end relations with the USA then that will instantly mean a shitload more jobs in the USA as our myriad industries get restarted and a myriad of jobs come back to our shores.

Wishful drinking. Those jobs will just go to India or Bangladesh or somewhere else where people work for pennies. Why would a company move back to the US where they have to pay people a living wage? Those CEO's and shareholders need gold woven toilet paper dontcha know.

They could and might if it is only meant to weaken Chinas economy. Except Trump has threatened 35% to ANY location overseas, not just China. So it will decrease the appetite for this, and also consider how Trump seems to want to call companies out on Twitter. Call it community shaming...a very unique and brazen approach.
Why do you laugh?
Look at all those employed people!
Even if the manufacturing comes back to the US, like their manufacturing output has ever significantly dropped, the employment wont.

You're assuming that the world is the same place today as it was on the morning of November 8th.

It's a weak argument and not entirely accurate. Why are companies moving to Mexico then? They just want to move their robots to a warmer climate?
The outsourcing is about labour. Has been for some time.
Somebody has to build and maintain the factories.
Construction will be going the same way as manufacturing in the very near future.
Manufacturing plants like Musk's (the picture I posted) already have maintenance bots being tested, that will service the majority of the primary assembly bots. The techs only maintain the maintenance bots.
That will be woefully inadequate for providing all of the jobs promised.
