CALGARY – After being beaten down at the grand opening of Rogers Place last Wednesday, the Calgary Flames finally got a chance to ruin a home opener. Unfortunately for them, it was their own. With the Flames seeking revenge after getting spanked 7-4 in th

Oh oh, so Calgary will have something to prove against Vancouver tonight then.

Just what the Canucks didn't need for their home opener.

I think the same way dog. The last few years, the night before a Flames Oilers game the Flames would get their ass handed to them and they'd take it out on the Oilers the next night. Just about every friggin time.

We're already having fun here in Calgary with the claim now going around the sports writers that the guys aren't buying into the new coaching system/are still loyal to Bob Hartley/pissed off that Bob got fired. Probably just muckraking media bullshit as usual as these "journalists" go out of their way to stir up trouble out of nothing. But it could also be another long and difficult year around this town if any of it turns out to be true.

Sigh. This is why I don't invest very much emotional energy in this sort of thing anymore. If Oiler and Canuck fans want to got nuts and get bent out of shape over all of this over the next seven months then go right ahead. Me? I've got better things to do than lose sleep over what the millionaires-on-skates with the local goofball franchise do for laughs.

Thanos, your top line has only been together for 4 days, 5 counting tonight, give it time.

Oh, I'm patient with the guys. Problem is I'm in a town that gets as impatient as Toronto does and it leads to things like terrible trades and coaches getting fired every two years now. It could be a good year or it could be a terrible one but the local media doesn't seem to understand that it'll take more than the first ten games to figure that out.

Normally I'd agree. But the Canucks have fresh legs, Calgary doesn't.
