Hillary Clinton verbally banished half of Donald Trump's backers to a 'basket of deplorables,' and the Republican presidential nominee quickly pounced, saying Saturday she had smeared many Americans and would pay a heavy political price.

Only half? Seems like a full basket of the deplorable in support of the unspeakable. (Sorry Oscar).

The worst part is now she's walked it back. That's why democrats lose the war of words all the time. Trump says insane shit on an hourly basis and never acts like its a problem. Hillary says something factual, if oddly worded, and she takes it back. Stupid.

I don't see this as having any effect. His supporters know who they are. She has already lost the Archie Bunker vote and those whom are undecided can't be stupid enough to realize that Trump has capitalized on rallying the Basket of Deplorables. Can they?

They are xenophobic, racist, bigots and some of them, I assume are good people. These are not America's best folks.

The Demoncrats can't be seen to be sneering at the working class whites, is the problem. The Repubs can and they still dominate that category.

    Bill Maher nailed it:

Forty years (at least) of betrayals and sell-outs and they still can't figure it out. I'd never support Trump because he's a disgraceful clown, unfit for the title of leader, and as a (supposed) billionaire he's been running in the circles of the masters of the universe for his entire life. Clinton though? She's been at the heart of the elitist structure that's ruined the world and daily life for so many for so long that she still doesn't have the slightest clue as to whey they're so damn angry. She doesn't understand because she's never once experienced a single negative consequence from this system that people exactly like her have put into place. Like I said before, why are they expecting peace and politeness and non-extreme reactions from the people that they've been spitting on for so long?

Yeah but Mississippi has gone red every election since the civil rights movement, except 1976 when Jimmy Carter, a fellow southerner ran against that Yankee Gerald Ford.

These are in my view exactly the people she needs to hate her. She needs to pursue this line of attack. I just feel like passion is going to win this race.

There is a clear divide in the US right now. There is not going to be any "governing from the middle." The prevalence of candidates like Trump and Sanders is proof of that.

I think she needs to harness the hatred for people Trump is courting in the same way he is harnessing their hatred of all things different.

I know it is cliché to say but there is a lot at stake in this race. She needs to convey that. IMO

When Clinton said that shit it's over she's done and will end up being the worst candidate the Democrats ever ran no wonder they didn't want her in 2008.

Democrats wonder and worry: Why isn’t Clinton far ahead of Trump?

Among Democrats’ concerns is the fact that Clinton spent a great deal of time over the summer raising millions of dollars in private fundraisers while Trump was devoting much of his schedule to rallies, speeches and TV appearances — although many of those didn’t go as well as his campaign may have hoped.

This is why she will lose, she's disconnected from the American people unless they're Hollywood elitists at private fund raisers.

My view on the popularity of the Trump Rallies is that he is entertaining, people want to here what he is going to say next and it is a fun night out with the Mrs.

If Trump came to Toronto, I would honestly go to his rally. I suspect many of my Liberal friends would. It is shocking and funny to hear him.

Hillary, I wouldn't go. Huge yawn fest.
I follow Trump on Twitter, Hillary, nope.

His rallies are events, like the smack talk macho man used to lay down before a big match in wwf.

Would I ever consider voting for him, no way.

I don't think he will win but to be honest I don't really care. They are all members of the same ruling class that have been milking the prols for eternity.

They party together, go to school together, and marry eachother. I am beginning to think there really isn't a choice at all.

The Clinton's were hobnobbing with presidents in their teens, Trump not until later. We will never see a real "outsider" elected

Trump himself has said that he has to amp it up during his rallies because otherwise nobody would come. So it's like "I only play a madman on TV"

Trump is closest to an outsider who will ever run because regardless of who's elected the establishment on both sides will find a way to never let this happen again. Every time Hillary speaks it sounds like she's talking down to people with that elitist tone while trying to start a War with Russia.

Not being a Putin admirer = trying to start a war with Russia.

    Ok.

Does the Trump campaign download its talking points straight into your head or do you have to memorize them the old fashioned way?

You're right the Trump side makes it a point of pride tol hurl insulting, outrageous and/or false accusations daily and refusing to apologize. As usual they're crybabies when they're in the receiving end.

Hillary shouldn't have apologized. Apologizing only makes them hate you more.

I don't get it. We have the righties here go on and on about what a pussy Obama is with not standing up to Russia. Now what, they've drunk Trump bathwater and sucking up to Putin is the way to go.

I can really see why the term nazi is apparently being thrown around. So desperate for the strong man that will lead the whites to the promised land.
