not even surprised anymore... I am sure Superman will soon be an octogenarian Maori transgendered non-Kryptonian social justice warrior with a wicked smart vlog and PTSD from that time (s)he fired an AR-15 at a range
I guess we're all so privileged that they have no other choice but to wipe even our fictional heroes out of existence. Money talks, bullshit walks, and hopefully if this kind of social engineering hits Marvel in the bank account hard enough they'll one day knock it off.
You just don't go changing proven key characters when your most important audience segment are the fanboys who will promote or kill your film on social media.
Ironman seems very suited to using a different character, since it's all about the suit. Although can you still call a woman Ironman? OTOH, black Thor has to be some kind of a bad joke.
Funny how I was moved to reply to this topic even tho I can't stand the superhero movies. Always seem so cheesy. I loved the comics when I was a kid, but the movies don't make it for me. My idea of a good superhero movie was the Bourne Identity.
Don't know about Jason Bourne but "James Bond" is just a code name that goes along with the 007 code number. That means they could give the name and number (and movie role) to anyone on the politically correct spectrum, as long as the producers and investors are willing to accept making the worst box-office results in the history of the franchise.
I imagine it was difficult to get a return on investment for that movie when Daniel Craig was going on about how much he hated the character and the movies while they were still filming it. He still loved the fame and the money the role made him and had no intention of returning any of it though. Celebrities: where would the rest of us be without them?
I predict a flop of epic proportion.
Some people never learn.

Isn't this cultural appropriation?
