These CEO's had best be quiet, before people start demanding accountability of THEM and the corporate welfare cheques they've received from Comrade Wynne. Funny, how free markets are ok for the movement of their capital but not for the movement of labour. Spoken like true protectionists.
if you are one of the best and brightest graduating in Ontario or anywhere in Canada, you should go where liberty and opportunity presents itself, if Canada cannot present that fertile ground than you can be sure America or another country will. Unless the CEO of these companies is going to pay you the difference, go forward.
Who is going to reimburse me for the 15 years of employment interference?

Gee, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to work for this group of tyrants.

It's that arrogant attitude that has motivated top grads to leave Canada for America, and many of them never come back. Imagine that loss. Innovation, high earning tax payers, trickle down jobs created by the successes of these businesses which these grads contributed to. The list goes on and on.
True economic powers get it. Economies that rely on the unaccountable, cronyism, nepotism and attitudes from the 1900's don't get it.
Are these the same sort of CEOs that have enforced wage stagnation for the last thirty years for anyone who is not in the executive ranks? Yeah, well, fuck them.
That is happening everywhere, no one cares about that as long as you have the freedom to reach the highest mountain yourself if warranted. If someone can move to America, Japan, England, Germany or any other country to pursue their dreams and contribute to their maximum potential, who is a CEO to complain about this?
We have a free trade agreement with the United States, access to the largest consumer market in the world. If a CEO cannot create a product and win business in that market to compete and pay top dollar for the best, than they don't deserve the best employees.
Furthermore, citizens naturally move to jurisdictions that allow for the highest protection of freedom, pursuits of achievement and happiness, why wouldn't they?
Why don't you actually do something to ENCOURAGE hi tech jobs to set up and stay in Ontario instead of trying to punish those who want to make something of their lives.
Why would they want to stay in a tax the shit out of me province? where energy rates have gone up almost 1000% with completely unrealistic housing costs? Hum, yeah no idea on that one.

This x1000!
This BS attitude (blame the student/employee for retention rates) is why I can't even attend trade association meetings, in Alberta, any more.
so they want to punish good students who apparently have good enough resumes to make somewhere other than the welfare province that is Ontario?

The ultimate expression of any oppressive state is the wall (be it real or virtual) that is constructed to prevent people from leaving.

So that's a thumb's up to all immigrants... and the countries they left.
Here's an idea: If silicon valley is the COMPETITION, how about offering COMPETITIVE compensation here so that our grads CHOOSE to stay, instead of being FORCED to stay by draconian laws dreamed up to serve greedy companies. Of course something like that wouldn't occur to a CEOs, who increasingly seem to view themselves as feudal lords. Instead they opt for their predictable "I want something, can't we just force people to give it to me with some kind of punitive law?"
