It's not really clear who it was that set the fire. Was it the Christians who felt they were being short changed on food, or was it Muslims who were unhappy with non believers not following their traditions? The physics teacher here is Muslim, and he says the long days are a bit much. Mind you he used to teach in Wollaston Lake which is even further north.
How does any of this stand to reason? We have a centre burnt down, we have Muslim and Christian refugees, we have men who were angry their noon meals were too small and who are not fasting. Did they burn the hall or did Muslim men who were mad at them burn the hall?? One heck of a crappy piece of journalism here!
Didn't, however, stop the usual suspects from making their usual assumptions about their usual suspects.

Not really.
A late evening meal was introduced for Muslims observing Ramadan and one group of men not taking part in the fast complained that their meals were not big enough. "We're looking at this as the motive," an investigator said.
The piece states what is known, which is that some men not observing Ramadan are suspected to have set the fire. Ie it was most likely the Christians. The crap comes in when Martin and Bart try to twist anything to their agenda, as usual.
I do wonder about the headline tho. What is a German fire?

According to the German newspaper Express, two Moroccans living at the centre said Iranian security staff at the facility had 'deliberately' not woken those observing Ramadan ahead of their scheduled breakfast time.
The newspaper reports the two men as saying that a plan was then formed to start a fire.
Witnesses reported that there had been recurring tensions between followers of different religions in the Red Cross-run facility.
'During this time of Ramadan, there was one group that wanted to strictly observe the fast, and another that insisted on the usual timetables and usual servings,' said Ralf Herrenbrueck, spokesman for the prosecutors service.
'This had led on several occasions to disputes and altercations with officials of the German Red Cross,' he said in an interview with public broadcaster WDR.
'It got to the point where threats were made over what would happen if things didn't change, and that one threat was obviously implemented.
Since the start of the year, police had been called 89 times to the 65,000 sq ft hall, which was formerly part of the city's congress centre, reports said.
German authorities last night said two North African men were suspected of starting the blaze and causing extensive damage 'as part of a dispute over food'.
Police and prosecutors said one of the two 26-year-olds was seen pouring flammable liquid onto a mattress and setting fire to it, while the other told fellow residents: 'We had to do it so that things change.'

Now that seems to be somewhat better reporting. However it does nothing to explain why Muslims would be mad about not getting enough food at a time they were supposed to be fasting. Is this an interfaith conflict between branches of Islam or just some guys being bitchy?
Not all Muslims fast during Ramadan...not saying it was them that started the fire, but you can be 'medically' excused from the fasting. Sort of the same excuse for eating pork for Muslims. if that's all there is and the choice is starvation or bacon, they are allowed to eat pork. Mind you they and a lot of Jews don't follow religious proscriptions against pork and such.

Interesting. I knew about Jews and pork, but then I have known Jews from a young age, only meeting Muslims in my 20's.

It's a special kind of fire that's environmentally sensitive and with a very low carbon footprint.
