No rumours, they have been in court once already.
You can be sure if it was 2 white guys, their names would have been immediately released.
See, there you go! Attributing to malice what can also be explained by caution.
If police won't release names, what says that they got the right people and court case? Releasing the wrong names is far more damaging than releasing no names.
"DrCaleb" said For some strange reason CBC seems to have forgotten to mention the names of the accused.
"andyt" said CBC said the police would not release the names, so where did North Shore News get them?
Seems to me yet another incidence of journalistic integrity misinterpreted as deception. They didn't forget, they simply didn't print rumours.
Rumours, journalistic integrity?
If that statement was true they'd still be the accused and the headline wouldn't have said:
Illegal crab fishermen fined $3,300 for North Vancouver haul. 2 Vancouver men found guilty of several federal Fisheries Act violations for illegal traps
Sorry but, the fact that they withheld the names of two convicted poachers is a giant red flag indicating the CBC values political correctness over cold hard facts which puts paid to your claim about journalistic integrity. The only one here with any integrity was the North Shore News and just because some cop aspires to the same political correctness standards as the CBC doesn't make they or him right. BTW Court records are public records unless specified otherwise which is likely where the NSN got their information.

Typical CBC hiding anything they can.
Gimme a break guys seriously? The CBC is trying to hide the identities because they're non-whites? That's your theory?
Because it's small change poaching. You're guilty unless you contest it in court and win. Not like it's a truckload of undersized crabs, barely worth reporting.
Thankfully one of their readers had the insight to post a link to a site with a better memory than theirs.

Have to admit the names didn't match what my bias thought they would be (First Nations or Vietnamese). Guess poaching is a equal ethnic occupation.

Don't let facts or common sense get in the way of a CBC-bashing.
Facts?
And how can common sense get in the way of the truth? It's either the truth or it isn't and that's, a fact.
Man I thought this would be a story about some sailor getting busted after a night with a hooker.
Nope, not in the new, kinder, gentler, PC, Canadian Navy.

Yeah, and in this case:
Gimme a break guys seriously? The CBC is trying to hide the identities because they're non-whites? That's your theory?
Is that the facts?
