A protest by Black Lives Matter Toronto outside police headquarters is not in its third week, and an organizer says it's unlikely to end soon. 'We have been ignored for far too long' organizer Sandy Hudson told Metro Morning.
Good to see Mark Saunders under some pressure considering he wasn't even the best man for the job, but simply had a bromance with Blair, a "Mini Me" of Bill Blair. They ruined the career of a man better suited for the job, a man who had his MBA and would have forced the TPS to shape up or ship out.
John "I-never-would-have-won-if-Ford-didn't-become-sick" Tory, now has to deal with this and justify how he can allow a $1B juggernaut increase their budget with the ever repeated "we will become more efficient next year" while agencies who help vulnerable kids have to cut thir budgets.
Of course, nothing more needs to be said about Wynne that hasn't been said already. Without the tacit support by the OPP she might not have won the election, could very well had been in court.
I have no interest in activism, but as long as they do not break laws and are not violent, they can protest. Lord knows better men and women than I have sacrificed for their right to do so.

Saunders isn't under any pressure at all.
These protesters are upset because a man came at cops with a hammer and got shot for it. Too fucking bad.

It's not an injustice.
This is one particular case, I don't even know much about this case to specifically discuss it. To me, this is a general protest about optics that put the police on notice. Considering what they have gotten away with in a broader fashion, the discontent is warranted.
The history of the TPS isn't a great one, especially in regards to the lack of success of SIU finding fault or charging bad apples. The union has done a major disservice to the good police who now have to deal with an unfair brunt of the unhappy public.
You can be sure Saunders is under pressure, and it will become much worse if and when the housing market bubble in Toronto bursts and people start asking why their property taxes have gone up yet again to pay for a service who's budget has grown more than twice the rate of the GDP, increased faster than the revenue of Apple Computers. All while crime is down and other agencies have found efficiencies.
"Lemmy" said Wynne, OPP, debt, Wynne, OPP, debt, debt, Wynne, debt, OPP, debt, Wynne. I'm a crank, blah, blah, blah.
You are free to make your arguments for the doubling of the provincial debt over the last 10 years alone and now being the most indebted sub-borrower in the world, and I can make the argument about why it is a problem.

This is the case that sparked the protest. How can you share the link in support of the movement yet have no idea why or how it came to the surface?
You don't know if the discontent is warranted or not. Surely, if you're not even sure why this is taking place, you sure-as-shit don't have a clue about much beyond that.

Why would I do that?

When? What you've presented, over and over, is nothing resembling an argument.

You spend an awful lot of time avoiding commenting on topics from the OP just to take issue with certain posters and their comments.
Yes, I read they were protesting the death of a man, demanding the name of the officer who shot him. This isn't a case I am interested in as from what I read it can be argued both ways. I am not even sure the officers name should be shared since he has been cleared, but that's for others to argue.
One is a more important broader issue which compels me to have an interest is the processs which appears to be extremely skewed in one direction. We are supposed to be a nation of laws, equal before the law in as much as Canada's watered down justice system can be.
When the first protest occurred about a year ago there were a group of mothers of children who had been shot and killed, there was a more detailed discussions regarding some of these deaths on CBC. What was most troubling to me was that in many of these cases the parents had still not even been given explanations and key details about the shooting or the process. That's inexcusable. NOONE should be above the law. As one American on this board argued recently when the prison wouldn't allow any investigation into the apparent suicide of an inmate, we cannot stand on any moral high ground if we don't ensure basic standards of accountability and transparency.
There are democratic nations which have charged former leaders with crimes. How is it these countries can go after their elected leaders when warranted but we cannot pursue justice/accountability/tranparency of a police force? It has to stop and my guess is the game of accountability is going to change drastically for those who abuse their authority.
These Fucking C***s need to get a Fucking Life! Their hypocrisy is pathetic, they only care when it's cool to jump on the bandwagon. They're the same losers who jumped on the Occupy Wall Street bandwagon. Fuck Them!
I enjoy the part where someone who says things like "we're supposed to be a nation of laws" tosses all that aside without a thought, wants to ignore the legal process altogether, engage in trial by media, and basically have lynch-mob justice in any "crimes" allegedly committed by police. There's no philosophy behind this. This is just an anti-police agenda. Which makes it a perfect match to #BLM because BLM is about nothing but trying to get black criminals exempt from any and all laws because they're apparently perpetual victims of whitey's racism.
I have no pity for anyone who got shot by the cops for attacking them with a hammer than I do for the lump of shit that got shot by the cops after trying to strangle a store clerk that he just stole cigarettes from. Don't act like a prick and you won't get nailed. It's a basic universal law that cop-haters and garbage like BLM simply aren't capable of ever figuring out.
