The B.C. SPCA says 20 counts of animal cruelty have been laid against Chilliwack Cattle Sales, one of Canada's largest dairy farms, and seven of its employees.
The maximum penalty is $75,000 and up to 24 months imprisonment.
Not enough and nobody will even get that. Animal cruelty laws in this country are a joke.
In one instance, a cow was hoisted up by a forklift from a chain wrapped around its neck and dragged out of its pen as a worker shouts, "Leave her like that."
while four of the counts are under the Wildlife Act for "molesting a pigeon."
I kind of liked that part. Even though pigeons are an invasive species, it's wrong to abuse anything just for jollies. Kill it, and be done. Don't torment it.
