He is a big gearhead, and was #1 in the reasonably priced car . . .

But I still don't know if it'll be any good. I'll watch the first few with they come out, and see then.

Now that I'll watch, Top Gear with a washed up actor not so much. They tried this same thing with Top Gear USA and it was a dismal failure so to think that by bringing the American to Britain it will improve the show is nothing more than a joke.

I didn't hate Top Gear US, or Top Gear AU. They weren't nearly as good as Top Gear UK, but they were OK.

Agreed, Leblanc might bring the over 40 pre old hag demographic, but that's it.

It might be better with Sabine Schmitz, but her English will need work.

Top Gear will be a disaster, 2 year run max.

I won't be listening to her talk. She could read the phone book for all I care.

Steve McQueen and Paul Walker would have been good choices while the ultimate would have been Michael Schumacher. XD

First off get rid of Chris Evans that would surely improve the show tremendously. Although Sabine Schmidt can drive she has the German sense of humour (nein) as she has portrayed in previous TG and Fifth Gear appearances. I like the addition of Matt LeBlanc, he has the charisma that TG USA never had and is genuinely funny. Chris Harris I like from his youtube reviews. Rory Reid, never heard of, but caught one of his reviews in which he willing to trade his grannies kidneys (in a bag along with blood) for an Alfa 4C. I suppose he is to replace Clarkon's acerbic wit but being black should be less likely to offend viewers. As for Eddie Jordan (a former F1 team owner F3 driver? No, I think the BBC should have made better decisions (specifically the unfunny Chris Evans)or should have been graceful enough to retire the Top Gear brand.

Gee, even meeting the diversity quota isn't enough for this serious

Guardian crazed femnazi bitch; remember these are the kind of people they employ, the next time you read a Guardian BS piece posted here.

Top Gear fetishises the totally unnecessary consumption of fossil fuels in the name of sport, entertainment and feeling better about your premature ejaculation disorder; it normalises dangerously fast driving; it contributes to the hunger for more and more cars that we neither need nor can sustain; it treats the sheer act of moving a machine as if it’s a display of heroic bravery and skill; and it paid Jeremy Clarkson’s salary for over 25 years. In this context, disliking Top Gear because it doesn’t include enough women is a bit like hating Trident because those submarines simply don’t have enough room for your jumpers – it rather misses the point.

In some ways, of course, it is something that Schmitz will be presenting Top Gear. At least Schmitz might actually know something about these guff-chugging misery wagons. But oh how I wish women on television were more present when discussing health, politics, international relations, history and culture from the equity of female experience. Not just joining a franchise made famous for making bad jokes about – among other things – sexually transmitted infections, “poor people”, a soft clutch, homosexuality, Germans, “unprotected sex with an Ethiopian transvestite”, domestic violence, murdering sex workers, and women drivers.

At least she understands it was never about the cars..
