Who is the bigger threat to citizens security, the criminals or the excessive powers and abuse of budgets by the police?

Actually, it's either food safety or people not immunized for the flu. Those tend to be larger killers of Canadians than either police or crime.

You and I define National Security differently. Anything which impairs a citizens economic opportunity and future generation is just as concerning, even worse in many cases because many of those who will be affected haven't even been born yet. We are throwing generations into debt from birth so that underachievers (see covert agent) can justify their existence.

As I said, the "faith" anyone has in our economy will translate into foreign investment or it won't. Investors aren't interested in fluff and justification that is a liability rather than an asset. Some agencys have passed the threshold of what is defined as a liability...

Speaking truth to power is dangerous even if you're powerful.

Nothing more disgusting than an executive officer who would throw the guys in the lower ranks under the bus as fast as he could in order to boost his own career. Hopefully this kind of talk puts the kibosh on his career and he's never in any kind of command situation ever again.

That officer is supposed to serve the best interests of the people of Toronto, not his fellow officers.

You need to learn more about the leftist Toronto city council and how anti-police they are. Twenty-odd years ago, when Vietnamese gangs were responsible for most of the street violence, the officer in charge of the anti-gang squad was Chinese-Canadian. He actually got called a racist by the liberals on the city council for saying "yeah, right now the worst of the violence is coming from Vietnamese organized crime gangs". This guy trying to nuke the police budget today is nothing but another opportunistic apparatchik shmoozing with the city council for the benefit of his own career. All this proves, once again, is that the careerists in the upper ranks at police HQ are usually the ones most willing to stab the guys in the back for their own agenda.
