So the men contacted police and provided a perfectly logical reason for what they were doing. But Vancouver had great fun having our own little panic for a bit. Because Islam.

And if they did do something horrible you'd be bitching about the police not doing their job.

I think this case is probably a mix of genuine and reasonable concern over Islamic people attacking public spaces lately and the longstanding antipathy of law enforcement towards people taking pictures in public spaces.

What's funny is that in a shopping mall the cops will predictably lose their shit over someone taking a picture yet there's no end of surveillance cameras in such a place doing the same thing all day long. :|

Well, they should have investigated, no matter the race of the people involved, and they did. The problem is that it was leaked to the media and turned into a circus.

    Straight up racial profiling.

Which seems practical since it's been mostly Arabic Moslems (and one gay Mexican guy) blowing shit up and raping women the past few weeks.

Oh, but I forgot the Moslems. So, yes, it's a diverse group of Moslems we need to be concerned about.

And where these people are killing a lot of Moslems I'm thinking most Moslems wouldn't want it any other way.

A friend who is an amateur photographer was investigated by the RCMP a couple of years ago for taking pictures of planes arriving and departing Vancouver International Airport. Had the RCMP not been able to locate her and the media found out they would have tuned her into a possible Terrorist suspect, it's what they do to stay relevant.

Mohammed Sharaz speaks out about his role in Vancouver mall mystery

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c ... -1.3406619

Sharaz said he had no issues with how police treated the situation. What concerned him more was that the information had been leaked, potentially putting him, his son and his friend at risk of harm from vigilantes.

He said the three of them have stayed inside since they found out the photo of the three of them was circulating on social media and the internet.

"My son's got a disability. My friend's got a disability. We're the last people who are going to be hired by some terrorist organization to take video of stuff," he said.

    Yes, but, Islam.

Yup. No doubt about it but real danger to the public lies there. You can correct me the next time that a gang of Swedes shoots up a mall or detonates a bomb vest.

If we focus on the people who look middle eastern, we'll miss our homegrown jihadis, mostly white. That would be a big mistake.

Maybe. They haven't attacked here yet. The only attackers and plotters in this country so far have all fit "the profile".

Really? The guy who ran down two soldiers? Nutall and Korody, the attempted legislature bombers? All the guys that went to join ISIS? (They might not have attacked in this country, but if they return?)

The Toronto 18, the Khadrs, and the ones that went to Syria/Iraq to join ISIS were all Arab/Pakistani/North African Muslims. There's more than enough justification for profiling no matter how many equivocating dimwits say otherwise.
