Yeah we had those death threats in fb last week in Alberta. I'm assuming when authorities are forced to investigate, it consumes employee time and money to comply with information requests. The vitriol of late has become pretty potent across the board. They probably just shut it down to avoid the headache and cost of dealing with it.
"Delwin" said The vitriol of late has become pretty potent across the board.
You're right.
The Paris Massacre set the stage but it was the San Bernardino shooting that was the tipping point.
When the news in Paris hit pretty much everyone knew that the perpetrators were going to be Muslims. And given that all of the weapons used in the attack were already illegal in France gun control wasn't brought up by the left because it would've been stupid.
The left had to eat their usual narrative with the Paris attack because it was too organized with too many people involved with too much logistics supporting them for the attack to be dismissed as an anomaly. I'm sure that left a few people on that side of the spectrum were butthurt over that reality.
Then when the San Bernardino attack happened I'll admit that at first glance it looked to be a possible workplace shooting which tends to be typical of a lone-wolf white guy. And the media, to include CNN, the New York Times, NBC, CBS, and most egregiously MSNBC piled on with sometimes profane condemnations of white people, the NRA, Republicans in general, and etc.
The New York Daily News doubled down on the narrative and recently published this cover:

And that surely doesn't help in terms of dialing down the vitriol.
The right has also tired of the antics of the left going across the spectrum from the non-stop idiocy on the college campuses to the pervasive PC that tries to bully everyone into not celebrating Christmas or pretty much anything worth a damn in Western culture. We're fighting back.
Where will it end? Hopefully it will translate into a change in society where the unreality of the liberal mind will give way to people being able to call things what they are.
Given the way the electorate around the world is moving these days (except in Canada, for now) it looks like that's what's happening.
Seriously, not even I had any idea that so many Americans were so pissed off at the bullshit that they'd do this...
I don't think it's going to stop this time. I think the long slow fuse has finally been lit. Too many things are piling on top of each other now. We're now seeing that the rush to crucify the cops in the Freddie Gray death in Baltimore was entirely politically motivated. If they're all basically acquitted via mistrials then expect full-blown rioting like from the Rodney King verdict in LA back in 1992. Add in then that, thanks to things like 4Chan as shown in Minneapolis, some white dickheads are going to show up and make things worse. What happens next, like if someone takes a shot at Obama or Trump? What happens next if some more ISIS lone wolves go active again?
Perfect storm is a-brewin' now. Something really bad is going to happen. Not Sept 11 bad, but it'll still be bad enough to set off some pretty spectacular civil violence. To borrow from The Stand it's almost like you can hear the steps of the Walkin' Dude's bootheels echoing down the highways. All the better angels are off hiding somewhere right now because they might have to let this overdue spasm occur once and for all and not come out again until whoever's left has calmed down some.

So, ; vitriol.Well there's that but there's also the other side of the coin, aside from every proposal that Trump has put forth which are mostly not achievable. We also have the comment by Carlt "Baby Parts" Fiorina and the other GOP candidates whom are trying to reopen a debate that was closed for more people. The crap that has been said about Mexicans and Muslims, the race issues with Black life matters, talks about carpet bombing innocents in Syria, Jeb Bush said over the weekend that Democrats lure black people to support them with the promise of “free stuff.” ,Ted Cruz has unequivocally stoked the flames of hate versus the LGBT community with his recent remarks that the gay activists are waging a “jihad” against “people of faith who respect the biblical teaching that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.”, Ben Carson said a Muslim should never be president, etc, etc.
We could debate the degree to which all of these statement are more hate fueled but the point stands that it has been bad all around.
American obviously feel there is a lot on the line this election and I shudder to think where things go once it comes time for either side to back up all this crap. Someone, somewhere is going to be very pissed.
The CBC has been debating basically the same. Comment sections get filled with tons of shit and it costs $ to properly Mod. I'm all for open discussion, but there are so many who will just spew unworthy garbage and are simply not interested in discussing anything that often times discussion is impossible any way.
"Delwin" said talks about carpet bombing innocents in Syria
This bit of misinformation needs to be handled first. None of the GOP candidates said this. CNN's debate moderator, Hugh Hewitt, said it.
I'm not blaming you but this bit of bullshit is an example of how the media poisons public discourse.
They say some shit to a public figure like, "So you're saying you support carpet bombing innocent people?" and then the rest of the media echo-chamber runs with it as if a Republican actually said this.
And then the motherfuckers wonder why some of us would relish the opportunity to hang a bunch of reporters from the nearest lightpost.

Let the racist police retreat from their neighborhoods for a week or two. Then bulldozers can move in and clean up the burning rubble and bodies after they go full Rwanda on each other. Those who enjoy living in a civilized society will be given assistance in relocating.

It's a two-way street. Ted Cruz' comment about the LGBT 'jihad' against people of faith is substantiated when the bastards deliberately go looking for Christian business-owners and demand that these people serve them at a gay wedding. Why aren't they doing the same thing with Muslims if they're so interested in making everyone kiss their collective asses?
And they wonder why people are not interested in talking to them anymore.
I loved the article I saw on another site where a Christian woman who makes quilts to benefit a Christian women's shelter had two women who demanded that she make them a Rainbow flag quilt. She said she'd make it so long as they didn't mind it being draped over their caskets. When the two lesbians filed a complaint they were told to get lost because the woman in question has never taken custom orders anyway. But nice try.
The cake case in Oregon turned vicious when the administrative judge assessed a $135,000 fine against the bakers and then constructed the penalty to force the bakers to have to sell their personal home (and not their business) to satisfy the fine. The actual law requires the business to satisfy the fine, but who cares about the law when there's an agenda to advance? The vindictive bastards want their pound of flesh.
The admin judge now has to avoid public appearances because there are very legitimate threats against his life. Myself, I'm hoping someone nails the SOB and makes an example out of him. Really, if he doesn't care about the law if it impedes his agenda then the law doesn't matter when it comes to his agenda. If someone ever gets to him and they get arrested I'll be donating to their defense fund for sure. If I get on the jury...even better.
Ben Carson is right that a Muslim should not be President of the USA nor should a practicing Muslim lead any nation that's supposed to be secular while simultaneously holding to a belief that Islam must dominate all other religions and beliefs. Likewise I don't believe Ben Carson is fit to be President because his Seventh Day Adventist beliefs would necessarily and detrimentally color his decisions and judgment. I agree with much of what he says but I also believe that at his core the guy's a loon.
Jeb Bush is right that the Democrats lure black people to vote Democrat with promises of free stuff. When the Democrats in the 1960's adopted a strategy of using the promise of the welfare state to buy black votes it was none other than Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson who said, and I quote:
I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years!
Your objection to what Bush said is an example of people like yourself trying to stop other people from speaking an abundantly demonstrable truth because it offends you. Your being offended by that truth doesn't change the fact of what Bush said. Not in the least. It just pisses off other people who know that what Bush said can be easily and thoroughly substantiated.
A lot of the 'crap' that's been said of Mexicans is often times sourced to Mexicans themselves. The media doesn't like to tell you that in California that fourth and fifth generation Americans of Mexican descent vote conservative regardless of their party affiliation. You think any of the GOP field are rude about Mexicans, then you ought to hear a farmer from Imperial County (California) dish on illegal immigrants. These guys often want the illegals shot down at the border, hunted with dogs, and those are the nicer guys. You'd be shocked at how well Trump is actually doing with Hispanics.
The big number they announced from this was that 79% of Hispanics didn't support Trump. What they didn't tell you from their poll was that while 16% of respondents said they were Republican it was 21% of them that supported Trump and said they'd consider voting for him.
That means a good number of registered Democrats who are Hispanic are willing to vote for Trump over any Democrat. In the 2008 election those same people mostly voted for Obama. It looks like seven years of Obama convinced them to support Trump.
They're tired of the bullshit, too.
In fairness, Mexicans also like a man and some of them refer to Trump as El Jefe (The Chief) which is generally a compliment in Mexican culture. They might oppose his politics but they'll support him because he comes off like a man and not a pathetic, dickless eunuch like Jeb Bush (not that I hold any opinions about Jeb ). That's garnering Trump some Hispanic support, too.
Not that you'll hear this from the liberal media who would like you to think that 100% of Mexicans and blacks hinge on the words of rich elitist white liberals.
At the end of all of this is the commonly accepted conclusion that Obama has been such a 'miracle' over the past seven years that a GOP victory next November is almost a given. The only way a Democrat will win next year is with a plurality like Clinton did in 1992 when the GOP vote split between Bush and Perot. Meaning that if the GOP pulls some dirty tricks to cheat Trump of the nomination (if he gets the votes) then Trump will likely run 3rd party and the Democrats will obtain another four years in the White House.
It will also absolutely mean the end of the GOP.
If you think the vitriol is bad between left and right you ought to hear the veritable poison being spat between the conservative Republicans and the Democrat wing of the GOP. If 2016 means a Democrat President because the GOP Establishment refuses to support Trump then the civil war in the GOP is going to draw very real blood.
Conservatives might not care for the left but we don't blame them for being who they are. We are far less forgiving of traitors.
And if that particular shooting war starts up then it will inevitably spread.
Because people are angry enough to do it.
That said, I just hope the election sorts itself out in a manner that everyone considers fair so we don't have an exciting time this time next year.
"Public_Domain" said And then the motherfuckers wonder why some of us would relish the opportunity to hang a bunch of reporters from the nearest lightpost.

How's it going with the state-run media over at the CBC? Are you readers still allowed to comment?
