Alberta’s Notley posts Facebook letter to address farm bill protests

Now shes flipped on the Hutteries making them exempt from this BS. Even tho they had told the Ag Minister they wanted to be treated like everyone else and not to be treated specially .

Now that's stupid. What's her excuse for this discrimination?

UPDATED: December 4, 2015 ? 1610 CST ? RED DEER ? In a complete reversal, the Alberta government has announced it will exempt Hutterite colonies and their 22,000 members from mandatory Workers Compensation Board and Occupational Health and Safety coverage.

When the Alberta government announced Bill 6, the farm safety bill, documents showed Hutterite colonies would be required to follow the same safety standards and workers compensation rules as other farmers.

During a consultation meeting in Red Deer two weeks later, Alberta agriculture minister Oneil Carlier said Hutterite colonies would not be required to have mandatory workers compensation coverage because the premiums were based on salary and colony members aren?t paid a salary.

I'm sure they could work something out besides just exempting them - such as what the typical salary is for the job.

this governments lack of experience is showing badly. Who would trust a government that says don't worry, we will amend it later..

just like C68 and gun registration never led to confiscations...right....sure....

Meh no matter what the NDP does rural Albertans are still going to rage. I would be more worried about corporate farm lobbies attaching themselves to the Wildrose.
