The cops have known about it and refused to act upon it. This is what forces citizens to do the job of the police. They(law enforcement) would bear some responsibility if siomeone was to be injured.

"We're all for residents being passionate and engaged in the community but to go into encampments and start taking property, from a police perspective, that's a recipe for disaster," said Sgt. Vince Hancott.

Translation: Will you people stop making us look bad!

The cops are usually handcuffed by city council from doing certain parts of their job, like take robbery and theft seriously. If anything further is said about this incident it'll be that shithead Nenshi condemning the property owners for being big meanies by taking their stuff back from all the precocious little street drug-addicts. These were the same clowns after all that Nenshi fell all over himself to protect just after he was first elected by not letting the police evict them from Olympic Plaza when they turned it into an open-air toilet as part of occupy.

Just to give you another idea how Calgary is managed these days the city changed all the playground zones from "730 to one hour after sunset" and the school zones from "700 to 1700" to "700 to 2100" for both. This has nothing to do with safety, because they never gave a damn about safety in either school or playground zones before. They did this on purpose just to use the police as a fine-gathering instrument to bolster revenues. That's how this city is run now, with far too many things being purposely designed to funnel as much money as possible (even through the creation of fines that never existed before) straight into city hall. This town sure ain't what it used to be. I'd fucking put a jetpack on and rocket out of here as fast as I could if I had the damn money to do so. It was getting bad before Nenshi but that egomaniac asshole is making it even worse with every passing year.
