Wow. I remember watching that when it was aired. I don't remember how it ended but I do recall the Alaska Pipeline was at the center of the story.

The ministry said the building erected on the large island of Alexandra Land, which is part of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, is 97 per cent complete.

That's a cluster of islands that belong to Russia. So what? How is that different than CFB Alert? Our base is built on the northern coast of Ellesmere Island, about the same latitude. In fact our base is ever so slightly farther north. Yawn.

The name of the Russian base roughly translates into English as, "Shit Duty".
