They are overwhelmingly white, rich, older and male...they overwhelmingly lean right, contributing tens of millions of dollars to support Republican candidates.

I dunno. Doesn't it seem fair that the job givers who all worked hard for this money get to give it to whomever they want? So much better than having to pay the money to the IRS, that's just robbery. This way these wise people guide the political system for the benefit of the lesser people, who wouldn't have jobs except for these titans. They should probably change the inaugural ceremony to include the inaugural presidential blow job for these fine men.

The key part of the article is this section here

In marshaling their financial resources chiefly behind Republican candidates, the donors are also serving as a kind of financial check on demographic forces that have been nudging the electorate toward support for the Democratic Party and its economic policies. Two-thirds of Americans support higher taxes on those earning $1 million or more a year, according to a June New York Times/CBS News poll, while six in 10 favor more government intervention to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. According to the Pew Research Center, nearly seven in 10 favor preserving Social Security and Medicare benefits as they are...

“The campaign finance system is now a countervailing force to the way the actual voters of the country are evolving and the policies they want"

It's their money and if this is what they want to do with it then it's their business. I know I am not giving anything to any lying politicians!

These are the ones behind the Citizens United decision. Get used to it because these kind of people never lose.
