Volkswagen Canada has stopped sales of many of its diesel models in this country following revelations late last week that the automaker had rigged emissions tests for almost 500,000 diesel cars in the U.S.
Seems they rigged their "Green" diesels to only run green when they're being tested for emissions. The rest of the time they run like a normal diesel.
So in short this means I get to have another laugh at the expense of liberals who bought one of these leftish-appealing vehicles with the intent of "doing something" about global warming!

Instead of gloating like a moron at people who tried to do the right thing and make the world a better place, you should be castigating the greed-hungry execs who thought this would be a good idea.
Just another example of the pathetic partisanship of some boobs here at CKA.
Par for the course with you and your hate-filled bunch I guess...

I wonder how bad the tests would have been with 'normal' driving operation??? would they fail horribly or just not be as 'green' as they would like to advertise?
I would be pretty pissed off if I purchased a vehicle on the assumption, based on information from VW that is was a 'cleaner' choice when in fact it might not be after all.

I'd suggest that at least 50% of the genuine evil in this world originates in corporate boardrooms. The ones that will suffer will be any VW workers that lose their jobs if the stock tanks and sales dry up. In true typical form the execs that thought it up will be golden parachuted to complete safety and then on to another corporate position where they'll behave exactly the same. Someone like Ken Lay was the exception when it comes to a crooked executive being punished. The rest of them usually skate, the way they always skate in this miserable world we've created.

Just because your world is miserable, doesn't mean the rest of it is.
For about as long as guys like you and Bart keep defending the indefensible. This is a rotten world that doesn't care about anyone or anything. Maybe you'll stay lucky and it won't ever turn on you the way it does pretty much everyone else.

Must drive a VW. Or a Volvo?
Actually, I used to drive a 2006 Jetta TDI (not included in this scandal) which I bought solely for fuel economy...and it was amazing in that regard! 300 km to Calgary was a 1/4 tank of gas, 3500 kms to Victoria and back cost about $140, only had to fill up twice a month, even during the winter and so on. Best of all, when diesel dropped below the price of regular gas in the summer, it saved me even more. Even on the repairs front, it was far cheaper to own and operate than my Ford Taurus ever was.
But my point was that Bart is exhibiting schadenfreude at those who were simply trying to do some good. He can laugh at them all he wants, but it just shows his true nature.

Careful now, you're starting to sound like a filthy communist!
And they will start an investigation in Europe.

I think that it is feckin' hilarious ... sensors that detect guvvermint emissions measurement equipment. Oh, those clever technokrauts ...
