Hamad Said journeyed more than 2,000 miles from Sicily to Birmingham at a cost of €76 - around £53 - with French and Italian authorities simply waving him through en route to the UK.

Hundreds of migrants who have smuggled themselves into Britain from Calais are being put up in hotels at taxpayers' expense.

Stowaways who have illegally entered the country on lorries or trains through the Channel Tunnel are being transported across England and given their own hotel room, three cooked meals a day and a cash allowance of 35 pounds a week all within days of entering the UK.

They are being accommodated in hotels boasting pools, gyms and spas even before claiming asylum, because official reception centres cannot cope with the recent surge in illegal arrivals...

The Government pays private companies £150 million to accommodate would-be asylum seekers after they have been caught by the police entering the country illegally.

And if the truck drivers get caught (transporting illegals that they do not even know they have in or on their truck), they will end up in jail.

    Lovely, huh

Calais mayor Natacha Bouchart has made several threats to solve her town’s problems by letting migrants pass. She is convinced it is the British policy of offering rights and benefits which attracts them. And she said she wants British border controls, which have been in place at Calais for 12 years, moved back to the UK. At the weekend, French MP Xavier Bertrand backed the idea of opening the gates. He accused the British of not understanding “the size and gravity of the problem” facing Calais.

The French should let them pass. Why are all the migrants so focused on getting to Britain, even the ones that speak French? It's the same story with illegal immigration in the US - if business didn't give them jobs, they wouldn't come. That's how you stop this shit - don't give people a reason to come in the first place. That and cut out the crazy welfare shit we keep hearing about.

They shouldn't even be in France, Asylum is in the first country of refuge they land in, be it Italy, Spain or Greece. Let all of the EU accept dispersal of the migrants. There are 28 member states in this "political union". Britain can't even handle the mass influx from South eastern countries of the EU when those floodgates opened 2 years ago.

They tried that, didn't work out too well.

Then they should fix the problem and not allow asylum seekers to roam from state to state. it's funny ho the EU is turning their back on this problem to be Britian's problem alone when border control is the main change wanted by Cameron ahead of a referendum. Merkel, Junker and their ilk are just cutting of their stuck up noses to spite le face.

I'm guessing you're not that up to date on the problem.

Yes that would put a quarter million illegals stuck in Italy and Greece, while the
UK and Germany take nothing. That didn't work, which is why those countries are now giving documents to the illegals to move to other EU countries. After all, they and Brussels are the ones who want them so bad, they can now have them.

Yes, they have been fucking Italy and Greece for years, doing nothing while those
countries get flooded with illegals. 2 countries that are the least willing and least prepared to accept the EUHR bullshit.

I'll remind you the UK refused to take any illegals in the last round of distribution.

I'm up to date enough to know Cameron is still pushing his "changes" and yes they are merely superficial changes at that. At least Boris is now leaning to the "OUT" side, possibly because he sees it as unwinnable but probably for self promotion to the majority of disgust with the EU. They may be illegals but they re also asylum seekers and should thusly processed as such. I'm not saying these people should be confined to the country of first refuge as this would be too much a burden to the Med countries, but dispersed throughout all 28 member states and with a do not roam provision. Unfortunately the EU is far from perfect and it appears that no member country is willing to accept their burden. Evidence shows that they are funneled through Italy and through France where they can get to England. I do recall the last round of refugees that even Nigel Farage said Britain should take 500.

I'm torn over this issue I must admit. I recognize the plight of those desperate for freedom. And I'm sure most refugees would eventually benefit themselves and also the UK but there is also the security threat a very real concern. Also net migration to the UK was 30,000 a year for decades. A number that, seemingly, Britain was able to cope with. It was only after, when Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria and other "less wealthy" EU member states were allowed free migration that this really went bust the 30,000 cap exploded to over 300,000 per year just from EU citizens. That leaves no room for asylum seekers, those who truly need a place. That is how the EU fucks Britain. No houses, school places, jobs, compression of wages and utter over-whelming of services.

If you want a do not roam clause, you need to put the borders back up.

Hungary has registered over 50,000 illegals this year, almost none of them stayed.

Sending all 50k back to Hungary would cause a bloodbath and a civil war.

Face it: the UK is attractive because you have a big underground economy, and a
benefits system that can't be beat for giving tons of money away for free.

Get in, get lots of free money, family is coming to the UK for free real soon.

And the young UK girls like to be raped.

I think they should take Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's advice and adopt his government's "Pacific Solution".

Tony Abbott insists tough line on migrants is the only way to stop deaths
Said army should be deployed to prevent asylum seekers arriving on land
He has ordered Australian military to turn back boats carrying migrants
Controversial move has seen near-daily arrivals fall significantly, with no reported deaths at sea off the coast of Australia so far this year

In Calais though, do what we did with all those storage container immigrants when they tried to sneak into BC.

Grab em, put them on a plane and send them home. Cheaper in the long run.

    Then there's the Bulgarian solution.

50 miles of razor wire: Fence along Turkish border that is 15ft tall and 5ft wide said to have kept out 500 people in a month

Would that work with these invaders though?

Short answer? No. Flooding the tunnel might work to slow down the situation and Sending the army to France could help alleviate the ineffectiveness of the Gendarme's situation. Add to that the Calais civil strikes, its close to boiling point. It's going to get real ugly, real soon. Given the fact that France has one ace up it's sleeve, that of booting out UK customs back to Dover. Oh how I wish Cameron had Maggie's balls. Still on the plus side this is going to push the out vote.
