Bear feeding caught on video in Banff leads to $1,000 fine

Should be $1,000 and a punch in the face.

Should be $1000 and then eaten by the bear.

And that happens more often than you'd think!

it's stupid as tourists standing five feet away from wild life taking pictures with their IPads.

Stupid people. Guess what happens when you run out of food and the bear still wants food?

A buddy I have who is a Park Ranger in Jasper tells all sorts of stories like this. Like the mom who wanted pics with a bear and her kids, so she put honey on their hands for it to lick off while she took the pictures. When the bear finished the honey, it's appetite was whetted, and it just kept eating . . .

And of course the bear starts coming down to the hiway more and gets hit by a car, or starts approaching people and has to be shot. And if you look at the 'related stories' link, you'll that this is one of those stories that has to be circulated every year because there's always another asshole out there.

How about instead of shooting the 'problem' bears why not shoot a few of the problem tourists? More gratifying and much better for the overall environment to boot.
