U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump stirs up more election trouble at a Christian summit, saying U.S. Senator John McCain is "not a war hero" — and drawing boos from the crowd.

I think The Donald was smoking some of those funny looking cigarettes.

"Then, when the moderator affirmed McCain was a war hero, Trump said: 'He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured.' "

Wonder how Fox News is going to spin this one.

Well that certainly explains why Trump is in such love with himself. As for McCain, anyone who A) flies ground attack missions and B)also does them from a carrier earns FAR more respect in my books than some rich fuckwit who sleazed his way to the top and doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself.

I might not necessarily agree with McCain's politics, but I'd rather spend the day talking with him than that vapid, bi-pedal hairpiece.

You should be asking how CNN is going to spin this one, they are the network that have been showing Trump constantly, talking about him and his "candid" approach that "many Republican voters love" (suggesting Democrats just like being fed punchline and bs?). Anderson Cooper has even interviewed him. Hard to imagine why CNN would have such an interest in any Republican party member.

The reason for this support is up for debate. My guess is the CNN love him as he is a liability to the Republican Party. Many don't even consider himself a Republican especially when it is well known he donated seven figures to Clintons charity and has a lot more to say about Republicans than he does the opposition party.

Regardless, I find American politics far more interesting than Canadian politics, not only because of their staunch support of their Constitution; a powerful contrast to the Canadian system which treats some agencies as demi-Gods above the law and accountabulity. There is a great deal of passion and knowledge about the issues. Canadian politics is careful, programmed and plastic. Ten years ago I didn't care about politics at all, but circumstances guide ones thirst for knowledge...

Well said. Trump is an egotistical sociopath who somehow managed to make a casino fail! 8O

And a plagiarist too. I remember the same bit from a Chris Rock standup a few years ago.

I look at Trump as the comedian who introduces the actual proceedings.

He's entertaining, but in August the debates begin. That's the real show.

He polls well now, because he's the only guy you hear about. Also he's taken on the role of the boy in the story of the Emperor's New Clothes. He's the guy pointing at stuff like say Obama's perhaps criminal immigration policy and attacking it. Or at least he's the one who's getting the current press on the matter, because he's not afraid to piss people like the latino media off. At this time the average Republican (who doesn't like illegal immigrants and jihadis pouring through open borders) wants to hear it in the bare faced, unashamed way Trump delivers it.

When it comes time to get serious though you'll see Trumps poll numbers drop.

I'd like to think that this is the final proof that even conservatives would accept that Trump isn't merely a blowhard or some mean-spirited idiot "telling it like it is" as too many of that mindset like to think, but that this is evidence that he's just a truly awful person, and that he's too rotten on the inside to be unacceptable to any political party, even to the current GOP. Then again they put an utter cretin like Sarah Palin on a pedestal for the last seven years, and their worship of money (and of those who have money) will probably never end, so Trump's probably safe in the clubhouse as he could ever want to be once this little tempest blows over.

I would point out that Trump's daddy used every connection he could to safely keep l'il Donald out of military service during the Vietnam war, just like Dick Cheney and Rush Limpbaughs's daddies also did for them. Say what you want about John McCain the person or John McCain the politician, but there's no questioning that he put his ass on the line for his country flying Skyraiders off of carrier decks, one of the toughest and most dangerous missions to fly in all of the naval air corps. That he'd get criticized by some literal piece of deferment-sucking shit like Trump in a normal world would be absolutely unbelievable. But with the modern GOP everything is now as far away from normal as it can get. It's no longer a case of it'll get worse before it'll get better. With conservative American politics, thanks to the likes of Trump and of the scum that have propelled him forward, it's a severe case of it's only going to keep getting worse and worse and worse because they've fallen so deep into this sewer of their own creation that it's now impossible for it to ever get better. :|

The only thing Trump is truly guilty of in this case is breaking Reagan's 11th commandment; attacking his own side. The GOP is perfectly happy to slander people who served like John Kerry, Max Cleland and Tammy Duckworth as long as they're democrats.

Yeah, but he's still fulfilling their 12th commandment. Double-down and never apologize, no matter how wrong, stupid, of mind-numbingly wretched it is a thing that you've said or done. Only pussies, wimps, and losers ever apologize.

You spend the better part of the last decade sowing your fields with toxic waste and you create the perfect soil conditions for a toadstool like Trump to grow and flourish from the poison. The GOP and American conservatism deserve Trump equally as much as he deserves them.

Just in case anyone thinks Trump actually represents EITHER side, he has been registered in the past as both an independent and a Democrat. He was one of Bill Clintons biggest supporters back then.

Trump doesn't properly represent either party, just his little old douche-bag self.

Ray might be on to something but another theory I've seen trumpets that he is clandestinely working for Hillary in order to completely sabotage any Republican candidate.

Which kinda makes sense based on their past history. :?

Trump is right on one hand. Being taken prisoner isn't heroic. Getting launched off of a carrier in a jet fighter and flying into an unknown jungle half way around the world takes serious balls at every stage, though. Trump is not only a bully but probably a coward as well. The two usually go hand-in-hand.
