Liberals losing steam as election approaches, polls suggest

They've been playing too much to the centre left voters rather than the Liberals traditional base in the centre and centre right. They need to worry about trying to sway those who voted for the CPC last election, rather than compete with the NDP. As long as Sponge Justin tries to market the LPC as NDP Lite, they are going to fail. He needs to move the party back to where it was under Martin, fiscally conservative and socially progressive, if the LPC is to stand a chance.

That being said, the best hope for the LPC is to heave Trustfund Truedope, and elect a competent leader. Let's hope they get trounced this election, as that should bring a new leadership race.

The Libs took a dive when they supported C51. It's actually because they've been to close to the CPC that they're tanking, vs the NDP taking a consistent stand.

If voting LIberal in my riding will help get rid of the conservatives, I'll do it. But I'd rather vote NDP all things being equal. We need a good shake up, and an NDP govt would do that. Cause the Cons and Libs to reassess. If the Dippers fuck up too badley, out they go next election, but the usual see saw between Libs and Cons has got to stop. Not sure I've ever voted NDP federally before, but I will this time.

We have a great Liberal candidate in my riding. The incumbent Conservative is a dud and I don't think he'll get back in. The NDP candidate is a councillor for teh Tseil-waututh Nation, so my concern is that she will represent them more than Canada. However, I'll vote NDP strategically if necessary.

IMO, this is not an election to be voting for a particular candidate. Too much at stake. I've done it, voted for John Fraser, for instance, when the election didn't really matter between Libs and PCs. But with the crazies in power in Ottawa right now, gotta get them out any way we can.

Our MP is a FN and is a CPC backbencher....but from Kitimat. He's also a former Sgt. in the RCMP.

Yeah, I've got personal reasons. I've got just over ten years to go before my pension--that I doubt will be there if these clowns get in again. Plus I'm an environmental scientist working for the feds--not exactly a dream job with this government. ha ha ha.

Amazing how it's personal for many people. You, Thanos. I can't really point to anything (except c51) that the Cons have done that's hurt me personally. Hell, I enjoy the GST cut as much as the next person. But I don't think they're good for the country, sending us down the wrong road, both socially and economically. And the civil liberties thing is just unforgivable.

usually when comments run the form of ad hominem I know who the real 'dimwit' truly is. My political views are evolving and more in line with policy that makes sense as opposed to where it came from (left, right center).

most people that slam C-51 haven't even read it, so I will take the high ground here, just like those who are yelling 'won't someone think of the children' in context of C-42 and how it does NOTHING but remove some paperwork.

You want more crazy? Cutting the GST was crazy. Boutique tax cuts are crazy. Income splitting is crazy. Running an austerity budget while the economy stagnates and interest rates are at an all time low is crazy - time to put money into badly needed infrastructure while the labor force is available and interest rates for borrowing are low. Robcalls are crazy. Bribing Duffy is crazy.
