Alberta saw the biggest increase in people receiving employment insurance benefits in March, rising by 8.9 per cent, Statistics Canada says.

    A lot of companies have been offering Records of Employment merely as a means to help their workers draw unemployment, with the understanding that they will be "hired" back as soon as things start to pick up again. More like a layoff versus losing a job.
