A 149-page Treasury Board submission on advertising has been deemed advice to cabinet, placing it behind a lead sheet of secrecy that even the federal information commissioner can’t penetrate.

Finally, enhancements to core open information activities initiated in Canada's first Action Plan will be expanded. These include efforts to modernize the administration of Access to Information services, development of new online tools to enable Canadians to access government documents and publications, and establishment of the Government of Canada's new government-wide web presence (Canada.ca). Together, these activities will provide Canadians with unprecedented ease of discovery and access to a wealth of Canadian federal government information.

No, the process for deciding the new “Strong Proud Free” , is being kept secret, in conflict to the transparency plan. Somehow that's a bit worse.

Seems a bit of a tempest in a teacup to me, compared to what else they get up to.

As far as advertising goes, what the feds need is an independent commissioner for advertising the way Ontario has, who decides what advertising is kosher and what isn't.

Probably. But it just goes to an ongoing pattern of saying one thing, doing the opposite.

Ah. So the slogan should actually be, "Redacted Redacted Redacted".
