A horrific missile attack in Gaza during last summer’s war between Israel and Hamas, for which Israel was broadly condemned at the time, was actually caused by a Palestinian missile misfiring and killing its own people, Amnesty International charged in a

The problem is you don't hear about this kind of stuff until long after Pallywood has made propaganda hay out of the deaths and destruction it turns out we can blame on the side they represent alone.

And even today there will be self appointed censors who will try to keep you from learning this information.

    This is worth repeating.

The journalist, Gabriele Barbati, tweeted, “International journos say: feeling today’s massacre in Shaati beach playground #gaza was misfired rocket by Hamas or factions.” The following day he added, “@IDFSpokesperson said truth in communique released yesterday about Shati camp massacre. It was not #Israel behind it”.

Barbati subsequently fled for his life from Gaza once his tweets were noticed by Hamas, but later that day tweeted again, “Out of #Gaza far from #Hamas retaliation: misfired rocket killed children y’day in Shati. Witness: militants rushed and cleared debris.”

Amnesty also made note of “other violations of international humanitarian law by Palestinian armed groups during the conflict, such as storing rockets and other munitions in civilian buildings – including UN schools – and cases where Palestinian armed groups launched attacks or stored munitions very near locations where hundreds of displaced civilians were taking shelter.”

Sorry about that. I did look for the story here, but apparently I didn't look back far enough. I almost can't believe I missed it when it was first posted. I can't help thinking I should have noticed that one. Sometimes a more paranoid person might suspect it's like such things briefly disappear.

It's interesting to read both versions though.

In fact it's kind of fascinating how two news outlets tell a different story about the same thing.

It's not that either side is issuing false information. It's more a matter of which facts they offer and which they leave out.

Some attribute that to a desire to deceive the public, others more pragmatically see it as appealing to an audience.

A case could be made for either here.

I see the Fox News one as pro Israeli, while the CBC version I would call Hamas apologist.

A case one way or the either for control of a message would assume that someone has to pick one and only one source for news. We see that anyone can pick any news source, or multiple sources.

I wouldn't say that news sources are trying to control a message, because they obviously can't. Their motivations must therefore be something else, and it usually comes to a baser motivation. Sex, power, money. Those kind of motivations.

Money, and how many ads they can put into eyeballs is my vote. :)

True, but I don't have to contribute tax money to Fox, so I don't have to feel like a sucker if I don't like the message.

Although I know there are plenty on the progressive side who would like to demand I do feel as such anyway.

Amnesty International, what a bunch of liars. We know they are because they lie about valiant Israel only defending itself, and sometimes even dare to point their fingers as us, so they must be liars.

Hamas guilty of war crimes ?

But they just trying to defend themselves against that Imperialist Jewish Aggression,
trying to genocide the poor Palis off the map.

Oh, if only they had some money to build a school, and some food, they would be happy Palis.

    Surely, this cannot be right.

Only too AI 60 years to state the bloody obvious.
