Wondering what others think of this Porvicial school policy allowing this? For the amount of times it would be required would it not be more prudent to have a rule saying "keep and eye on the person and call police?"
Given that police records now follow you around for life and can have serious consequences on your future, I'd say 'no'. Do not call the police, do not pass 'go'.
Keep it in house, respectful and only as a last resort.

I don't think, outside the police who are trained, that grownups should be stripping children. Too many creeps out there, and too many of those creeps end up in supervisory positions over children. Those guys are just going to pick the vulnerable students and drag them in for a strip search/rape.
Lastly, this is just going to start a whole chain of porn movies if allowed to stand.

A good point, but calling them on suspicion of drugs. "Hello I think she has some on her right now" and having the cops come and do whatever search they feel, with their experience in these things, is required does not mean any charges will be laid. If none are laid then no record. You can be searched when detained, or arrested on suspicion but not charged and still searched.
It sounds like a simple process, and in fact the "Strip" process is obviously easy but the decision to do so and when and where it is done requires some training to avoid problems. Regardless of what the education act says if they strip someone and they find something they had better have their ducks in a row and make sure things are up to snuff becuase that could get tossed o technicalities very easy by any two bit lawyer. Plus as mentioned here what happens if the person searching one days is outed with child porn or other sexual charges. Anyone who was searched by them will come out of the woodwork claiming they were sexually assaulted by that teacher and the teacher is in rough waters denying it plus the school board will get sued etc.
I'd have to give the Charter a skim too as I wonder if the parents don't have a charter challenge to the act. If they do, and win, then its trouble for the school board.
Seems more trouble than its worth maybe as a rule.
Contact the police and report the sexual assault that took place to them. I hope arrests will follow.

Yeah, this is strange. I went to a school that had a lot of issues, and had armed guards as well as a security staff of over a dozen. I was a regular down at the security depot, needless to say, and I was searched plenty, but never strip searched.

If you're a teacher stripping a child naked in your office, it's hard to argue that is anything but sexual assault. If it happened to my kid, I'd be hard pressed to call the police. I'd be wanting to take care of that myself. Touch my kid and I will fuck. you. up.
Yep, If my kid's school had this policy, I would be introducing myself to the staff at the start of the year.
Just to let them know that I would visit any adult that tried something like this with one of my daughters. The visit would take place at their residence and I would bring with me the means to walk through any locked door.
An ounce of prevention and all that.

That's my point though. Some cop will note it in their journal "Jane Smith - suspicion of drug possession, suspicion of intent to distribute" and that will follow Jane Smith for the rest of her life. Every job she applies for, they will do a record search, and every time the record search will turn up positive. And there is no way to dispute this record, and there is no way to remove it. What's worse, it appears to be a misinterpretation of a joke she sent a friend.
No charges need to be laid or even a conviction, the notes Officers write themselves can be the subject of a records search. (Thanks Harper!) No need to ruin a life over that.

Well, that's simple then, I will tell my kids to refuse to comply, unless there is a police officer of the same sex directing them. I have no problem with that.
It may be about safety for most of the teachers. For some it will be about power and sex.
