A century and a half after it sank and a decade and a half after it was raised, scientists are finally getting a look at the hull of the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley, the first sub in history to sink an enemy warship.

The RCN has ordered three more for their current and ongoing 2050 re-equipment and revaluation cycle.

I remember when they raised it. Pretty cool that they finally finished it off and displayed. 8) 8)

It was an advanced weapon for its time and amazing that someone was able to convince a hard-pressed Confederacy to apply the sort of resources that it would have taken to build her.

I hope this goes on display at a museum (sounds like a great piece for the Smithsonian). I would love to see this in person. From a military history perspective this is as big a find as finding the original Trojan horse.

It should be noted that the Hunley would still be buried in mud and sand if it were not for author Clive Cussler who was the principle source of funding for the recovery of this relic of the Confederate Navy.
