Seattly is putting in 5 offical tent cities. They call it a temporary solution to homelessness. Sure, temporary.

Guess we're going back to having Hoovervilles again. That was alos a time of great inequality - wonder what joy will come along this time to reverse the trend? World war seems kinda passe, we hope.

    Well...

Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit - what do these three cities have in common?

I wonder if elections might work.

They have the same homeless problem as Canadian cities?

Really? Don't know what sort of Randian paradise you live in, but:

Not the similarity you were going for?

Lets see... they're all part of a highly unequal society that has a poor safety net and keeps churning out more and more of these unfortunates as inequality keeps rising, where once there were very few?

In Los Angeles, you can bring the homeless to public housing, but you can't make them stay.

Nah, not the same thing at all. There's always been some bums camped out in the woods.

Ever since I can remember some band of hobos is being kicked out of somewhere.

In, America when they say tent city they mean

I'm not talking about glorified crack house encampments, or occupy holdovers.

    I'm talking about people like...

Tina Garland, an out-of-work truck driver, in the kitchen area of the tent she shares with her husband in Sacramento. Homeless enclaves have grown in places such as Nashville, Olympia, Wash., and St. Petersburg, Fla., but the situation in Sacramento has received extra attention following a visit from Oprah Winfrey.
