I'm torn. Buckingham Palace would fly it at half staff it were the Sultan of Bruenai or the King of the Netherlands out of respect.

But should we, for a non democracy? Would we, if it were Castro or Kim Jong Un?

Will we? That's an even more interesting question.

Depends who's in power. Trudeau would fly the flags at half-mast and demand a 20 gun salute. With Mulcair there might be tears. Elizabeth May would be dancing naked in the streets, and nobody wants to see that so may they live long, but not necessarily prosper.

This is the most bizarre monarchy-related fact I have ever heard.

I'm not sure why anyone would honor a man who reportedly has directed some $400 million to extremists in the past couple years.

A lot of US presidents who channeled money to extremist and terrorist groups have been honoured over the years...

We had this discussion when Kim Jong Il died and the UN lowered its flags. Like it or lump it, he was a head of state and is due some measure of respect.

What is more repellent is all the world leaders and others who are tripping over themselves to dickride his corpse and heap praise upon a man who presided over a country that treats women like garbage, exports its diseased version of Islam known as Wahabbism around the world making it the world biggest exporter of terrorism, and is essentially a hood rich country one generation removed from fucking goats becuase of oil.

Like I said, some were for Kim Jong Il but it's just protocol. In a perfect would, ther ought to be parties celebrating the fact these horrible people are no longer wasting the earth's precious food, water and air. But we're not in such a world are we.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I'm more offended by the all the posthumous praise being heaped upon that bastard's corpse than by flags being lowered.
