awww it's official, the West Bank Jordanians really love us.

There's that famous Muslim hospitality, throwing eggs instead of stones, while their own police do nothing.

CBC's Derek Stoffel said Baird downplayed the incident while talking to reporters later in Jerusalem, after his meeting with Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

"Listen, I was in Mike Harris's cabinet for four years. I've had a lot worse," he said, referring to the man who was Ontario's premier from 1995 until 2002.

Must have been those evil Ontario Palestinians who did that.

That's a good way to earn our support , perhaps even our charity.

    That'll work!

    Keep throwing those eggs!

    Morons.

They need us on side to help further their cause. We don't need them, at all.

Really? If they stop throwing eggs, Harper will switch from total support for whatever Israel does? I doubt it. The way they could earn Harper's support is for all of them to move to Jordan. I'm sure he'd send them a nice Christmas card after that. Maybe even play them a rendition of Let it Be.

I didn't say that. It's just that throwing eggs at Canadian diplomats only reinforces the image that a lot of, or perhaps most Canadians have of the Palestinians as being a bunch of unruly barbarians. It's more of the negative message that they have developed about themselves over the last several decades. Less throwing of objects, hijacking airlines and lobbing aimless missiles and more intelligent diplomacy would have led to a Palestinian state three decade ago. Whether you think that this response to the current Canadian government stand is valid or not, it is primitive and not very evolved. The Israelis are far cooler, smarter customers.

Agree with your last sentence, agree this isn't optimal behavior. Realize tho that these are just ordinary citizens. The odd Israeli has been shown to not be cooler or smarter as well, as apparently have Ontarians.

If you you want to conflate country with individual behavior, Israel killed the last PM that was ready to make a deal.

The problem is that accepting the deal, ie 1948 or 1967 borders wasn't just up to the Palestinians but involved all the Arab players. So even if the Palestinians had been prepared to be reasonable (which they weren't) it wouldn't have done any good. And I wonder how far the greater Israel movement would have come had the Arabs accepted the land that Israel originally wound up with - would the settler push still be as strong?

Who knows. The Palestinians/Arabs blew it in the past, right now Israel is blowing it because the only viable solution is see is two states.

As for Canada, we used be in a position of honest broker, tho of course it didn't accomplish much. Now we're just an Israeli cheerleader, so we need to accept the Palestinians aren't going to be enraptured when one of our ministers visits their land.

Which? You mean the ones from Mississauga that hang around Palestine House? Nah...they use sticks. Remember?

Well, hopefully one day the Palestinian people will grow the hell up and realize that Israel is NOT the root of all their problems.

Continued Israeli expansion is certainly a large problem for Palestinians. Israel is like the bully who takes a victims fist and hits him in the face with it, while taunting him why he doesn't stop hitting himself.

Do yourself a favour. Quit taking history lessons from the CBC and leftist revisionists before you make another utterly idiotic statement like that again.

So, you're saying Israel expanding their settlements into Palestinian land?

Nope that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that Israel isn't the bully here. It's not bullying when your neighbour starts a fight with you and you kick their ass. It's also not bullying when your neighbour isn't smart enough to stop picking fights with you and winds up getting their ass kicked as a result time after time.
You might feel sorry for the idiot who keeps getting his ass kicked, but you can't blame the one doing the ass kicking.

The whole thing reminds me of this Kids in the Hall sketch. The big dude with the glasses is Israel, Bruce McCulloch is Palestine and Kevin McDonald is every other Muslim state.

I don't neccesarily call it bullying wither, Palestine does more than enough to provoke, but at the moment the settlements are really the only issue I see with Israels conduct. At some point someone has to be the bigger man here and we all know it's going to have to be Israel, again.

Quit with the settlements, move back to something resembling the '67 borders(with allowances for strategic defense necessities), end the blockade and tell the Pallys "you're on your own, make it work. First rocket over the border will be draw ten in response. 2nd rocket gets 100 back. And so on."

I expect Israel will spend a few thousand rockets that way, and I'll cheer them all on.
