Yet again a Canadian government invokes the indirect defense subsidy from the USA.

In any case, I hope no one up your way complains about US Navy nuc boats cruising your Arctic since you folks apparently have ceded it to us.

The National Shipbuilding Program should just be re-named the National BS program already.

Why? If you did some research, then you would see that the program is well underway.

All that has happened so far is press conference after press conference (since 2008) announcing grandiose plans to build lots of nice ships.

What's worse, is that when they first announce a new class, we are promised more than we actually get (like this ship which was for 6-8 hulls and is no 5, or the JSS which was 3 but is now 2 AORs, etc.).

Call me cynical, but I'll believe in the hulls when I see them in the water.

They've finally selected the colour for the new wall paper and draperies that go into the shipyard design office.

They're making steady progress. Next week: broadloom for the floors and fabric covering for the cubicle walls.

Well, it was either to you or the Russians.

I'll get back to you about which one is worse.

Remember the Chinese want 20% of all oil revenue.

As I recall, China wants 20% of the Arctic territory.

I guess the same could be said about US states south of Alaska being ceded to Mexico.
